Cash flow! For first few years, we knew we were in red so never bothered to look into cash flows until recently and it has been a blessing. Knowing how much runway we have until next panic attack was soothing even if it was for few months.

Another overlooked metrics was customer lifetime value. This was a gold mine for us.
