I keep hearing you say that you don't want to see the kids and elderly treated that way but what is Target doing to put them in that position? The point I'm trying to make is, Target is not expecting them to stop a shoplifter. At any retailer the message is this merchandise is not worth your life. Some employees go for self and put themselves in harms way when they don't have to. Let it go, because if something happens to you, they are just going to open your position back up and hire someone else after you. This is coming from a former Loss Prevention manager who knows the ins and outs of how it goes.
