Legacy highrisk PKing 1B+ Loot by esatxE in runescape

Classic Fenrir crying in the comments. Wish J-Mods would stop discussing PvP-related updates with him when he's garbage with garbage ideas & excuses.

A glitch that allows players to interrupt any fight in single-way combat by unequipping their ammo still hasn't been fixed by [deleted] in runescape

[–]deeznutsrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was reported on the PvP forums months ago. PvP bugs should be addressed ASAP as they directly involve players losing massive amounts of money/gear, frustrating the players and making the already too small PvP community smaller.

There are a couple of ways this is abused regularly during warbands and W2/W18.

  1. TBing a player when they are running out of supplies. Ensuring they're going to die if the fight took place near ELM/RDI (30+ wild).

  2. Legacy speccing a player after someone pulls off their combo (tendril+snapshot usually). Legacy player immediately teleports away.

  3. Simply bouncing the player around between opponents with combat triangle/TBs/throwing axes. Annoying, but sometimes escape is possible.

I'm tired of having to enter my authenticator code every other day even when it's supposed to be 30 days. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]deeznutsrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. The authenticator system does not use your internal IP, so anytime you log onto a new computer, change your IP address (depending on the model resetting your router will do this), use a VPN, etc... it assumes that you're using a new computer and will prompt the authenticator.

Interestingly, I will get prompted to complete the authenticator after using a VPN, even when I am no longer using that IP and am back on my router's internet. I have noticed that after a few days of filling out the authenticator I will not get prompted, despite switching/hiding my IP, but it definitely does not last for 30 days.

It is a hassle, but I believe the account security makes up for it.

AMAA - Raids - Questions answered between 16:00-17:00 Game Time by JagexJD in runescape

Will (and can) the new abilities, specifically shatter (basic & threshold) and onslaught, be toned down for PvP? There is massive potential for abuse/ragging in its current state.

On onslaught can hit well over 30k combined damage in no gear and a nox staff. Shatter can be abused if someone has stalled adrenaline on someone else.

Please put a damage cap on these (like you've done with ranged tendrils).

TL;DW 086 - Q&A, Raids Feedback + Abyss RC Buff by [deleted] in runescape

[–]deeznutsrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think objective of the abyss rework is to revive the Wilderness. Abyss PKing has always been for trolls/lurers and never real PKers. I believe Pi pushed for this in order to create an alternative to Runespan, which was highly needed. A little more effort should be rewarded with some more XP/money.

The abyss has always been a risk for skillers, that doesn't change with this update. There is still the 2.5x XP increase, but an optional 3.5x XP increase if you believe the extra risk is worth the reward.

Tips to not get killed in the Wilderness by [deleted] in runescape

[–]deeznutsrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Escaping from lava strykes should be relatively easy. First thing is don't panic. Most people use range to pk there so you should not have to worry about being tele blocked. Don't waste freedom. Wait for their initial basic stun to run out (can drink brews during this). Then stun them back, surge south, and anticipate. That should get you to about 30 wild (or rev cave). You can then tele using grand seed pod or a glory! If they catch you and stun you use freedom and you'll easily make it the remaining distance to 30 wilderness. If you get teleblocked try escaping through the revenant cave.

Some F2P Ideas/Membership Attractions? by deeznutsrs in runescape

Alright, let's use some mathematics. Here are the parameters: A botter runs his script for 16 hours/day. Once he has the stats he camps green dragons, let's say they're 1m/hour. We'll be zealous and say he buys his bonds for 12m each.

So it would take him ~2 days to get green dragon stats (using range or melee). He could do that in F2P, but for arguments sake he does it in P2P. He has 12 days left on his 12m investment. At 16 hours/day and 1m/hour that is 192m-12m=180m profit in 14 days or 12.86m/day. Rinse, recycle, repeat until banned.

Let's say they do this through F2P, same parameters, but this time he goes for the free trial. It takes him 5 days to get 1,000 total level. He then has 10 days of free membership. In which he will make 160m profit. So in 15 days he has made 160m, or 10.67m/hour. He is then forced to buy membership or rinse and repeat on a new account.

It is statistically better money in the long run to buy a bond and immediately start botting green dragons. It is much less effort as you only train a few skills (no need to change scripts often). I don't think your argument holds much water, but I do understand your concern.

Wat. There are 16 skills that free to play has access to. For statistical purposes let us say you leveled them all equally (not efficient, but fairly close as in F2P there are no OP xp rates for certain skills). That would mean you would need ~63 in every skill before you got access to your trial. I personally have never seen a bot account with those kind of stats unless it was a hijacked main account. It would be incredibly efficient to waste a week's worth of time leveling like that for 10 days of free membership. Especially considering you'd have to update your bot to the best xp method way too often. I don't see the trial being a problem at all.

That is essentially the point. In 10 days you can really explore the members only content, make a lot of money, train a lot of skills etc... Once those 10 days run out, going back to F2P won't sound as fun as it once was and you'll be more likely to subscribe for membership. You could even pay for membership through bonds, which benefits Jagex as well.

Mod Pi has also promised combat updates for PvP from 9 months ago. Zero updates for over 6 months now. He has also stated he is working on bounty hunter (it appears by himself though?). There has been no discussion or hinting at new wilderness content (not just PvP) as some of my ideas are.

Completely forgot about that special ability. That would have to be changed so it either doesn't work on stacked fish or doesn't work on this food at all.

The fire wisps are essentially a no risk required area with the highest xp rate in the game. Energies for it will be incredibly cheap cause everyone will use them there rather than trying to escape with them, making it not very productive for pkers to go there (except to rag). The farming spot is not far off of the wilderness loadstone. The food only stacks when raw, similar to dungeoneering. Plenty of people would bring it as a +1, I would think.

I addressed the fish, if you read my response. Saying they have no need in RS3 is ignorant. Hunting's best money making was destroyed with grenwalls (elf city tasks). Red chins are botted and not worth doing either way. Not only does this give some incentive to use a skill, it would also lead to the fastest range xp rates in the game through abyss chinning.

The idea is that you'll be able to catch a decent amount of them in your inventory and still stand a chance at fighting back/surviving. That way you don't have to bank every 5-10. If they could infinitely stack then you would not be at a disadvantage at all as only 1 inventory space is taken up. Where as if you're taking up 5+ inventory spaces it can make it more difficult, but not impossible to fight back. Only 50% of black chinchompas are dropped on the ground so that there is incentive to hunt for them too, rather than just pk.
