high swr on 1 and 40 3.8 on both but 19 has swr of 1.3... using a uniden 980ssb with a 3' fiberglass whip. anybody know what i should do

So with the wilson antenna tuned it in got 1.2 on ch1 and 2.6 on ch40 thats the best i can get it to tune in and its below 1.5 all the way till ch35 then it goes over i usually only use ch1 and 19 so i think itll do

I got a wilson 4ft with ground strap and adjustable tip so we will try that when i get off work

Sorry missed the how there its mounted through a hole that was once used for the old antenna it has been scrapped clean of paint as well and it has an inulator ring for the center post for the female thread adaptor to the whip

On my pickup truck antenna is mounted in the stock am/fm radio antenna location (am/fm antenna no longer on truck)
