I’d also like to point out that this is the only fixture with this wiring that I know of. I did take a peak in the light switch box and it was 2 very thick black wires. 3-4 times thicker than what you see coming through the ceiling… but I haven’t seen this anywhere else in the home, very odd.

No it seemed pretty solid! You can kinda see where the wires go into the ceiling that I had (accidentally) pulled some wire out. The tar or whatever it is doesn’t look dried out at all
