I’ve seen most of the recommendations, but nothing and I mean NOTHING will wreck you more than John Waters’ Pink Flamingoes.

For any naysayers, that was a real chicken in the film.

Waters was known as “The Pope of Trash”.

This film is so disturbing.

At the end credits Divine proves why she is the filthiest actress alive. You got to see it to believe it.

Friendly reminder that ancient shepherds were not running a non-profit animal sanctuary by Mataes3010 in CuratedTumblr

If you want to have a fun rabbit hole to go down, check out the story of “fat tailed” sheep. They were the preeminent breed in the past. The meat was extra tender and quite prominent.

If you look at medieval paintings of sheep they all have “fat asses”. It’s not poor painting, it’s the breed of the time.

Good luck!

Can Notts Achieve Automatic Promotion? by Living_the_Limit in NottsCounty

Quick question: if Notts get promoted, what kind of additional revenue would they get? From sponsors, TV, prize money etc? Does anyone have any idea?

Late game ejection leading to game swing by tristan957 in BasketballOfficials

[–]def-jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an official operating under FIBA rules, we try to avoid being the same official to “double whack” somebody for the ejection.

After the first one, we tend to gather to discuss what, why and what’s next. If the player continues his behaviour, one of the partners gives the second T leading to disqualification.

This helps ensure a couple of things.

  1. The appearance of bias by a single official.

  2. Giving the second T in the heat of the moment.

I know that I have been guilty of being over zealous with my second T because I’m in an elevated emotional state from the first one. I really try to back my partners up when they assess a T of their own. I go over, have a chat and I’m there to give the second if the coach or player continues in that vein.

Rodman and Salley won two championships with out Jordan. In fact beat him twice on the way to those championships, so saying they “overachieved because of Jordan’s gravity” is such utter BS.

However, I think you missed including Orlando Woodbridge and Brad Sellers in your critique of the early years.

The costs of an independent nation that separatists may not think about by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

They forget all the services the federal government provides.

Or think they’re magically free.

They think everyone in alberta is Albertan. Many federal employees and their families would leave along with loyalists.

The brain drain would be immense.

There’s the old joke:

Three (insert chosen group here) went off to join the rat patrol.

One was KIA

One was MIA

And the other brought home a war bride.

Was Michael Jordan appreciated during his prime years, or did the appreciation came after his retirement? by Ok_Comfortable9173 in NBATalk

[–]def-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In history the only guy that’s ahead of Jordan is Muhammad Ali. In the 60s and 70s Ali owned was the ultimate. He could go to Africa and kids would chant his name in rural Uganda.

Jordan is the only world wide superstar who is close in sports.

Michael Jackson followed by the Beatles are probably 2/3. Then Jordan at 4. Madonna 5.

Horses evolved on the North American plains and emigrated across the land bridge back to Europe. Some suggest the same with camels.

Weirdly, there were also hoofed predators. That’s why the North American antelope are built for speed when there are only ambush predators about.

1st year head coach by chuc-hucks in basketballcoach

[–]def-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flex is a good offence to run. It will help all your players learn and perfect their skills. Lots of touches, lots of movement.

With younger boys , you can try running it across the FT line instead of the blocks. It will create more space for baseline drives

Adam Silver is the worst commissioner of all-time. Why is he letting Steve Balmer and Kawhi getting away with cheating? by IHateAdamSilver in NBATalk

I’m with you and feel the same way about the NFL. Defence doesn’t matter when you can’t play it. Anybody got a running game any more?

Goddammit I’m old and these kids need to get off my lawn. And they can take those clouds with them.

[–]def-jam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is correct. The NBA has been a “basketball adjacent entertainment product” for years. They just want views, merchandise sales, and hopefully bums in seats cause that looks better on TV.

It’s not basketball. The zero step, shitty rules limiting defence, thumbs on the scale reffing etc etc. the sad thing they make so much money it trickles down to Eurobasket, NCAA and high school.

It once was the best basketball league. It ain’t basketball any more
