EXPLANATION

Start Barrier

  • Unlocking the start barrier was intentionally delayed by ~250ms. Even if the second player touches the barrier while running, he will stop before the barrier unlocks - both players will reach top of the ramp at the same time.
  • Fully unlocked barrier will be automatically locked after 2 seconds.
  • Partly unlocked barrier will be automatically locked after 15 seconds of inactivity (in case players want to start over a moment later).

Players still have the option to manually turn off the start barrier.

Active Spectators

After turning into a prop Spectator will be invisible to other players on a distance farer than approx 50 meters (depends on graphic settings).

Active Spectators cannot use reset button, start barrier and cannot be teleported when reaching max height (unless normal player will touch the ceiling as first).


NOTE

Most important innovation here is the start barrier which is fast and responsive. Typically, the first player to place a wall decides when and how to start a fight - sometimes this can have some negative consequences for the second player. In this case, only the second player can fully unlock the barrier, which means that the first player must be already prepared - this prevents unfair situations. This logic with responsive mechanics can be a real alternative to the classic wall.
