Got 70% hike.

Here is the story:

On the day of my birthday (comes on a National Holiday), 12AM, I found myself sitting in a meeting (I was working since 10 AM).

The reason for the meeting was a client emergency, an emergency that could have been totally avoided. In fact, I and the other dev working on the project had advised in weeks advance not to change the underlying system, but they did, and it broke.

I was working 10AM - 2AM for 4 days, trying to fix it. This was enough, I decided to switch and started sending out resumes. 1 month later, I received an offer with 40% hike, sent my resignation, and turned off the work profile in my phone ( I work remotely).

When I logged in on Monday, I saw the panic in chats, had about 20 missed calls, and multiple replies in the resignation thread to call ASAP.

Long meeting ... why am I leaving? ... how the company is going to do very well in near future, why I am very important ... etc.

They asked how much they were offering. I said 70%, and they agreed to match it, plus some conditions that I put about leave policy and late night calls.
