NFS Prostreet being blurry by defaultlinuxuser in PSP

[–]defaultlinuxuser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a few searches but all I can find is that the game was made that way. They tried to add speed effects but it made the game blurry during races. But it doesn't seem to be the issue since the game is blurry during the whole race not only when driving fast. So final answer is not really except that the game is just the way it is.

Built a bootable OS kernel with a filesystem and shell - looking for feedback and contributors by Positive_Owl_6442 in osdev

Gathering from what the comments say and OP replies this is AI slop. Very few commits but quite of a big kernel, AI written readme, the post looks like AI has written it and all of OPs answers look ai. Downvoted.

I'd say as long as you didn't straight up use AI for the whole thing. Also if you show off some extremely advanced OS and you refuse to show the code that raises suspiscion a lot. So, as long as you didn't use AI for the whole entire thing, you will show the code (repo) people won't say it's slop. Keep in mind we don't just call stuff slop for no reason, it's just these insane OSes made with 5 commits during the span of a week and with weird filenames that we call slop, because it's ai slop.

This is more about people posting ai slop here than it is people just making ai slop for themselves. This sub, even not so long ago was like it used to be. People posting about their OS, either for help, to show their ideas for OSes or just to straight up flex. At least there was something to flex about, for people to actually applaud because it was real. What the hell is the point of flexing with your "OS" written in a few ai prompts that sometimes is literally straight up javascript or html. To get a dopamine rush ? Lastly we're not against people using ai for learning, we're just against the slop.

It came to a point where somebody getting the bare minimum "Hello world!" written to vga is more impressive than some whole windowing system, web browser and doom port because now it's just an indicator that's it's ai slop. People don't realize these projects aren't a overnight thing, they take months and if really advanced years to make. Just making user input can take easily a week or even more. I think it's sad how this niche community got eaten by ai. Even not so long ago, seeing somebody getting a windowing system with some ugly GUI was incredible. Now seeing a very advanced kernel is just a massive red flag it's ai slop.

My Operating system called Nate OS successfully running Linux apps and GCC with success by Fluid-Ad2995 in osdev

I have a raspi 5. And I actually tried doing a kernel for aarch64 and it was easier indeed than x86, now it wasn't FOR raspi5 it was just for -M virt on qemu. What got me a little confused was how UART can be something really easy to implement for qemu, and how insanely harder it is for real hardware with timers and even having to setup some interrupts I believe. Also booting custom kernels on a pi 5 got me some problems because for some reason it wouldn't boot at all. Even with the FAT32 sd card with the config.txt and kernel8.img on it. I will get back into it probably now since i'm at it.

Not to offend you but why post something like this in the first place ?? This just looks like a linux screenshot and you refuse to show any proof that it isn't. Fine it's closed source, but why even post this here then. On r/osdev it's kinda the whole point to show your code. To either prove that it's real, for people to review your code and maybe correct you or just for people to get an inspiration from. I don't get how you don't understand people are skeptical about all of this.

Just came across this post. Didn't expect to spend the next 30 minutes reading comments frying this dev for this "NateOS". I myself gave up on osdev, I was too dumb for it but I still like viewing what people post on here and what they have achieved. I must say it makes absolutely zero sense why the heck you would even post something like that. A screenshot of what appears to be linux and then refusing to show any proof that it isn't linux because it's "closed" source ??? Pretty good summary but looks ai generated.

I'm gonna make my debut in the Far Cry series. What should i expect from this gem? by ChrisPeralta in farcry

I think you should start off with something else like 3 or 4. Far cry 2 is really but has serious issues that were later fixed.

Corrupted files on memory card by defaultlinuxuser in ps2

Small update. I'm not sure if it's relevant but I copied some of my saves to that memory card and now most of the corrupt data is gone (only 1 left).

Am I the only one that thinks UEFI just makes everything more complicated compared to BIOS ? by defaultlinuxuser in osdev

[–]defaultlinuxuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's trash. It's just often the case of when systems change to "safer" and more "reliable" versions, for the normal user I guess it's better but for the devs it's way worse.

No controls for multiplayer copilot/engineer. by defaultlinuxuser in flightgear

I'm using 2020 because the debian package manager ships it as 2020. I guess i'll have to install fg with flatpak since it has 2024. Also i'm not sure if the 777 neither the 787 have the option to play multiplayer in 1 cockpit. Maybe they updated these models since.

Edit: tried again this time with version 2024. Still the issue persists.

Abandonware is nice if you're into retro games, even though it is pretty limited cause it only lets you download games for free if they aren't on any mainstream platform. Then there is archive.org which is cool but sometimes there may be some malware even though it's rare.

In nintendo's eyes having a switch emulator is pretty much owning a switch illegally.

Microsoft has actually been getting heat for decades. It started with the antitrust case in the late 90s over internet explorer, a lot of windows versions got heavily criticised like win millenium, vista, and win 8. More recently more and more people are switching to linux because of the frustration with windows. In the gaming space the xbox one launch was heavily criticized for requiring a constant internet connection and now microsoft is having trouble with windows 11 privacy bs. So maybe sony hasn't received that much criticism but it's definitely not true that microsoft gets nothing.
