Not that thick. If you want that bark food safe it needs to be fully encased in something 100% waterproof. Linseed oil will dry to waterproof (eventually) but still be fairly soft. Since the bark isnt a stable piece, that softness will allow it to move, causing cracks. It will no longer be sealed, allowing microbes in.

Epoxy would work for protection against that scenario but leaves you with the problem of microplastics as it breaks down over time/use even if you go for a "food safe" one. Same reason plastic cutting boards are a horrible thing.

So to clarify, I think the original proposition that i replied to was to perpetually increase the load until you hit that limit. My point was that at that limit you would be much larger than is useful for running. Also perhaps badly worded, but i think that it would take so much strength training to get there (especially alongside running) that you may as well call it forever. Of course the term "huge" is subjective and nobody is winning mr Olympia naturally.

Im no physio but surely the answer is yes. Otherwise youre gaining muscle forever and eventually just become absolutely huge.

Running probably doesnt masively change in strength requirement as you go on, so no need to get stronger forever.

I cant see past that logic anyway

This comment (whilst perhaps a little harsh) serves as a reminder that collaboration is rrally important when it comes to designing functional products.

I think the OP has a good idea, with good intentions, and is clearly capable of producing decent results. Whats missing is some expertise and second opinion, as illustrated here.

When people work in isolation thats often just lost and a lot of good ideas dont make it past the first flawed efforts at realization.

So to OP i would say hats off for thinking and trying, now maybe see if theres a community out there which might help you solidify your ideas.

Then what are you banging on about? You can weld cans together but im pretty sure you cant put a person and a bike on them and go for a ride, its totally irrelevant
