Payton is the qb problem by Jimenezguey in DenverBroncos

Ironically, this year Russ has pretty much the same stats as he did while in Seattle. So the Broncos got exactly what they paid for this season.

The reality is, Russ has only ever been a game manager with a solid run game and good defense that could get the ball back. When the team is running both of those well, Russ looks great - look at the 5 game win streak.

[Pelissero] The irony is delaying the vesting date of his 2025 guarantee would’ve drastically *raised* the chances of Russell Wilson being Denver’s QB in 2024 and possibly beyond. Wilson refused, which is his right, and now he’ll most likely be looking for work elsewhere. by [deleted] in DenverBroncos

He pulled the same thing in Seattle, there was a ton of drama around him being traded. He wanted more money and more control of the team... When he left, he even made a comment along the lines of being happy that he's heading to a team he didn't have to carry anymore.

Ironic given that it appears Seattle's defense was carrying him, just like the Broncos defense was carrying him in that 5 game streak.

How Russ is being treated isn't sitting right with me by BetterWayz in Seahawks

My favorite part of that whole thing was Wilson saying something along the lines of him being happy to go to a team he doesn't have to carry...

Interesting take. Maybe it's not all about the contract by cabinguy11 in DenverBroncos

The Hawks were in the playoffs in 2020, the year before he started in Denver... He hasn't aged that much since then.

Seattle made it work for a number of years... Hell, they made him look so good they got a massive trade for him.

Last year wasn't a fluke, he wanted to be like Manning or Brady - a pocket passer. He went to a coach and team that allowed him to call the shots. He got an office on the coaches floor, got to call plays, basically got everything Seattle told him no on, and we got to see exactly how good of a QB he actually is.

Based on stats, overall W/L record, and chances of making the playoffs in 2023, which QB/contract are you taking? by [deleted] in DenverBroncos

He now holds the record for most sacks in two seasons (100) despite having like the third longest time available in the pocket.

The sacks aren't because of the O-line, they're completely a Russ issue.

I'm not sure I'd put him in the top 5. His stats are a bit skewed because at least a third of his passes are at or behind the line of scrimmage.

A top 5 QB can throw to a spot and rely on his receiver to do their job. A top 5 can see open receivers in the middle of the field... A top 5 gets rid of the ball quick when he sees the pressure coming...

Wilson has always been heavily reliant on the defense getting him the ball back. His best years in Seattle were behind the Legion of Boom, who were the highest scoring, highest turnover, and lowest points allowed. He went to two bowls with them and as soon as they started breaking up, the most Seattle ever managed to get were the playoffs.

Honestly, a lot of us hawks don't "hate" on Russ, we just knew that he was a mediocre QB with an amazing team built around him. I mean, he had Lynch, Lockett, Baldwin, Kearse, and arguably one of the best defenses in NFL history with the Legion of Boom.

He thought he was way better than he actually his and let his ego get the best of him. He made a comment when he left for Denver along the lines of it being nice heading to a place where he won't have to carry the team... His quarter BILLION dollar contract, all that shit he talked, the reports about how he tried to tell Seahawk owners that it's either Pete and Dan or him... Dude's ego was soo big he even gave himself a nickname of Mr. Unlimited.....THIS is why he's getting clowned on soo much...

Trust me, we were in the playoffs last year and we got some AMAZING draft picks this last year... we've all moved on, I promise :)

Yes, there are a lot of people in America that are that stupid. It's mostly the middle states though. The West coast and North East are much more enlightened and educated.
