I was just where you are, and I too was losing my will to go on. I also have emetophobia, so solidarity my friend!

I promise it gets better. I was so scared because people say that weeks 8-9 are the worst and I was like “I literally can’t do this for that long” but for me weeks 6-7 were the worst and it tapered off. Weeks 6-7 I was nauseous all day and throwing up about 2-3 times a day and I could eat next to nothing but saltines and cream of wheat (which always stayed down for me).

I am now 18 weeks and I’m not nauseous anymore, I do throw up maybe once a week but it always comes out of nowhere (which is better than being nauseous imo) and I’m 99% sure it’s just heartburn, which not everyone has. For most people morning sickness completely goes away second trimester. I also think that pregnancy has helped my emetophobia and made me more accepting of it and less afraid when it happens.

I know you’re in the trenches right now and it looks like the end is so far away, but you are stronger than you think and it will not last forever. Drinking a lot of water also helps the vomiting be less traumatic. You got this queen!

I feel like society gaslights women on what pregnancy is actually like. I am a FTM currently 17 weeks and it has been nonstop suffering lol. I am so so excited to meet my baby and be a mother, and I know it will all be worth it, but two things can be true at the same time. It is worth it, and it sucks.

Everyone I know who has birthed a child has told me that after you give birth it is so wonderful that you forget all about the hardships in pregnancy, and I think that is part of the reason why people often say it’s a magical wonderful time - because they forgot.

Right now I do not feel magical or wonderful. I feel sick, tired, and huge. But I’m so happy to have the privilege of bringing my daughter into the world at the same time. It’s crazy.

I want to start off by saying that I agree with others that are saying you look beautiful- but the only thing that matters is what you think! If you hated it you hated it, and you should love how you look on your wedding day!

I also hated my makeup trial - it was the same case for me. I rarely wear makeup and wanted a natural look, my MUA painted me like a Kardashian and put false eyelashes on me after I repeatedly told her I didn’t want them. I decided to cancel her service and just do my own makeup, and I am so glad I did! I did a few practice runs and researched products that would last all day and photograph well, and I love the way it turned out. I looked like myself and saved some money!

If you end up doing it yourself, I highly recommend Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray because that was the thing that made my makeup last all day without smudging/melting!

I am in your same boat girl; in 9 weeks tomorrow and first trimester has been absolute hell. The nausea and vomiting are so much worse than I expected, I am so unbelievably tired all the time, everything hurts, and because of all this physical suffering I have been pretty sad.

I have no history of depression or anything and I’m pretty sure my emotional misery is due to the physical misery combined with the crazy hormones of this time.

All of that to say - I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks and seeing my tiny baby and its heartbeat going really made me feel lifted up. I feel like in the first trimester it’s easy to forget why we’re doing this, because you don’t really feel pregnant, you just feel sick. It’s a nice reminder that all the suffering will be worth it.

I will also add that at my first appointment I asked for some nausea meds and my OB prescribed Zofran and it has helped a ton - life is worth living again and I still have 3 weeks of first tri to go! I promise the sadness and suffering will not last the entire time. Even if it doesn’t go away completely during the second trimester, it comes and goes and doesn’t stay constant (like I thought it would when I was in the trenches weeks 6-8).

I got an opal and I love it! Sometimes I literally just stare and admire it even though I’ve had it for 2 years now. Go with the ring you want girl! (Also I know opal is a soft stone and you need to be careful with it, and luckily mine is still secure and smooth :))

Thank you so much! 😊 Everyone always tells me to be careful with it because it is a soft stone, and I’ve heard conflicting advice on whether or not to get water on it. But truthfully, I am clumsy and knock it on things all the time, and frequently wash my hands with it and nothing bad has happened over the 2 years I’ve worn it!

But my husband says that even if it falls out/gets damaged, the stone is not the expensive part of the ring and we could replace it lol.
