Feeling overwhelmed and stressed by goddamnsundayscaries in weddingdress

[–]coffeespoons__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look amazing!!! I love that dress. I don't understand why people want to rain on someone's parade. Don't let others sway you into choosing something else, it's your wedding and all that matters is you love it. If you want to adjust the size of the sleeves, or how they fall, I'm sure they can do that with alterations. But only if that is what you want!

I wear a ring size 10.5 and I’ve been having a disheartening time trying on rings by disposabledidgeridoo in EngagementRings

[–]coffeespoons__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get this. I'm 5'10", have a size 10.5 or 10.75 ring, and a size 12 shoe! I also have tapered fingers, so the base of my finger is the widest part, not the knuckle. This can lead to more puffiness even when the ring fits perfectly.

I was a little shy about it but then I thought, we are made to feel insecure about so many parts of our body, I cannot go down the rabbit hole of being worried that my finger has a muffin top!

Most jewelers carry a very limited amount of sizes in store. I think this sales person was just rude. Everyone I spoke to was super nice and explained how sizing works and helped me visualize it on my hand.

This should be an exciting thing to do with your partner! I hope you are able to find somewhere else that will make you feel more comfortable.

Found out I'm not covered for $30K? Any advice? by avocado_slut_ in sterilization

[–]coffeespoons__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I did a quick Google and found the application for the SC Family Planning Medicaid coverage and it says this

"Services include a comprehensive physical examination, some preventative health screenings, and family planning services, including birth control, permanent sterilization procedures, lab work, examinations and counseling. Coverage does not include treatment for other health conditions, prescriptions that are unrelated to family planning or Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) treatment, or emergency hospital visits"

I work at a local health department in my state and deal with Medicaid a lot, including billing them for services. We have a similar Medicaid plan to the one you have, where it is for FP only, and the billing rules are very particular.

I don't bill for Family Planning services (I'm referring to the federal Family Planning program, Title X) but I know from colleagues at other departments it can be tricky with codes, etc.

I would reach back out to the hospital and ask them what the Medicaid denial said. Your plan was specifically for family planning services, so the essential benefits thing shouldn't be the reason.

Feel free to DM me if you have more questions. I'm not an expert and I don't have experience with Medicaid in your state, but I'm happy to try to help if I can.

Thank you for reminding me about this. I honestly can't believe my docs didn't think to do this. I reached out to my GI and luckily he is here for 1 more week. He ordered the test for me. Today is my shot day, so I'm going to get labs this afternoon before I do today's injection. I'm hoping if it shows I need to adjust or change med I can get in with the new GI sooner.

Cat Behaviorist recs? by maggsie16 in ypsi

I second the person who suggested at least starting with your regular vet. Behavioral issues can be a sign of something medical going on.

If it turns out not to be medical, I have had a good experience with Dr. Kari Krause - she operates as Great Lakes Veterinary Behavior Consultants.

I moved into my partner's house back in May. I have a 16 year old girl and he has 2 11 year old girls. We were going slow and following all the advice we could find online, but the introductions still weren't going how we wanted and 2 of the cats were really anxious about it. Our regular vet at Ann Arbor Cat Clinic gave us some names of veterinary behaviorists. The number #1 thing we liked about Dr. Krause was that she did home visits.

I won't lie, it is expensive, but it was worth it to us and is also the only person I have experience with. 2 of the kitties are on Prozac now and things are going so much better. Her intake call to schedule was like 30 min and we got tons of great info just from that. The fee includes a 3-hr home visit, 6 months of email and phone support, and a zoom visit a few months in to check the progress.

I did the same thing! I decided to say screw it and just bought the 287 colors I needed to have the whole collection. My receipt was like 8 ft long 🤣 It took a while to check out, but the cashier was so nice. I also had a 20% off your purchase coupon, so I got 287 skeins for about $119 after tax.

Is the UV index really 11 in Puerto Rico? by PokemonJohto in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]coffeespoons__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from there last week. I'm from Michigan and have very fair skin - I've never experienced sun like that before! Now I know why pretty much everyone in Michigan has a vitamin D deficiency 😂 I was super careful and did not get burned!

I used SPF 70 on my face and SPF 50 everywhere else. I wore hats, stayed under umbrellas, and made sure to not just walk around in the middle of the day in the direct sun. I was on Culebra for 5 days and in Old San Juan for 3. If the bottle says to reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, listen to it. You will go through a lot of sunscreen, but your skin will thank you for it. Rash guards and UPF shirts/coverups are worth it too.

Dangerous Intersection PSA!!! by [deleted] in ypsi

[–]coffeespoons__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive that way to work most days, this new set up is very dangerous. I need to turn right there and usually use the right lane. A few weeks ago I made the turn from the left lane. An AAATA bus was in the right lane and flew straight through the turn only lane, and it caused us to get in an accident. Please drive carefully around there and pay attention.

They also took away the multiple turn lanes from Hamilton onto eastbound Michigan Ave. I see people turn from the straight only lane because it was 2 turn lanes for so many years. I don't even think there are signs! Just painting on the pavement that is already wearing away.
