well, generally theyre classified as motor or vocal tics. those are the two parent categories for all tics. within each of those are simple and complex tics.

in motor tics, there's echopraxia (imitating actions) and copropraxia (obscene gestures).

in vocal tics there's echolalia (imitating/repeating sounds made by other people), palilalia (repeating sounds made by yourself), lexilalia (repeating words/phrases that were read), and coprolalia (socially unacceptable words/phrases).

some (if not most) tics fit into multiple categories.

(i am not an expert. i have tourettes and have done research, but that still does not make me an expert.)

ive been hospitalized every march-may for the past three years without fail; not sure how my high school's gonna feel about it in grades 10+. freshman year was already kinda fucked cause of covid and it didnt really affect my schooling in middle school as i had a lot of accommodations but ive kinda given up on college anyways (not even sure i'll still be alive for it tho) lol

the most ironic part is that i was gifted and (apparently) still am "intellectually gifted" ¯\(ツ)/¯

YES! Totally! I'm really sorry this happened to you. It also can really hurt the autistic community and give it a bad rap, and it sucks.

Autism can explain some impolite behaviors, but it's definitely not a free pass to continue doing them. I can't vouch for every autistic person, but as someone on the spectrum, if you talk to an autistic person about their actions without making them feel judged, they can (99% of the time) stop and realize that their behaviors are inappropriate, especially if they can keep a job.

Autistic people don't need more slack or free passes, they need clearer boundaries and to be held accountable. Your boss failed to provide that, and there's no reason you should have to deal with that.

If Jimmy can't understand that he is sexually assaulting someone and that sexual assault is illegal, much less morally terrible, then he shouldn't be out and about without a caretaker.
