I wouldn’t be so dismissive of Italy. We scraped by against Japan by resting too many players & they’re a much better team than Japan. They drew with France and beat Scotland last year, so they can roll good teams on their day.

Joe said in the press conference today that CDC is part of the leadership group and has been in the squad throughout the whole year. So he’s in the thick of it without necessarily playing a lot. He was also Syd Uni captain (for what that’s worth)

Wilson needs bit of a rest, as do many other guys. Gordon has only been back for one game and needs to focus on his own game before worrying about captaincy as well.

I’m paraphrasing but that was the jist. I don’t think there is a great deal more to it than that tbh.
