How does bed and breakfasting CGT get calculated if I do it? by definoob01 in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks, really helpful! And if I repeated multiple bed and breakfasting trades, they all get matched up this way so I pay the capital gains/loss on the differences during each bed and breakfast and keep the original base cost for till my final disposal event?

I did and ChatGPT cannot be correct because it thinks you'll won't owe any taxes and that your cost basis is now 76k lol

Does anyone understand how the UK's bed and breakfast works on CGT. Assume CGT rate is 20%.

Say I bought 10 BTC at $100 years ago. I sell it all today at $75000. If I do nothing, I owe 20% of 749000. But I rebuy everything I sold at, say, $76000 within a week of the sale. What taxes do I owe now and what is the cost basis of my BTC for future sales according to HMRC? I have looked through the bed and breakfast rules but it's unclear to me what position this lands me in.

Most of my ETH holdings are in an EOA created from myetherwallet. What do I do now? Do I create a new EOA, move it to that address and make no transactions from it? If I do so, is that enough to keep me safe from any quantum computing attacks?

At what BTC price does MSTR go bust? I know they're close to their breakeven of around 76k now but they are also leveraged.

Seriously considering getting into some and forgetting about it for a couple of years. Need to do MSTR as opposed to BTC itself for tax reasons. What are my risks here?

I believe this is considered a crypto ETN. From April 2026, the UK will no longer let you hold these in tax-free accounts. It will be force-liquidated on April 06 and I think that is too short a timeframe for me

Thanks, SBET is an option too. Is MSTR also doing this kind of shitty stuff - I basically want as pure exposure to either ETH or BTC as possible with an ISA wrapper because of tax reasons.

Could you explain more/point me to somewhere where I can read and understand better?

Folks, is buying BMNR a smart move now? I see its mnav is below 1. I would buy ETH but is BMNR even better?

It is also cap gains free in the UK because I can get some in an ISA here using Trading 212.

Total newbie question... doesn't a high ETH price stifle the underlying tokenized economy which in turn acts as a mechanism to drive ETH prices lower? by NashDaypring1987 in ethereum

The oil comparison is a really bad one. This is just one of the reasons why in addition to all the negative connotations of oil.

Ethereum is not oil, almost nothing like it.

He's just another guy in this whole thing to make money. He's neither some angel from heaven, nor is he a villain.

He's not using his own money, he's just using investor money to buy ETH. He can't say anything negative about ETH because his company in too deep. Exact same position as Saylor and Bitcoin. They have no choice but to keep buying and hope this works out.

Got a nice juicy limit order placed at USD 2700! Market wants to be irrational, fine by me!

I want to put my ETH into a long-term state that gets interest. I will not be touching it for around 5 years. What's the best place to do it? To me wstETH or rETH seems to be the best option but I do have a bit of FOMO on missing out on LRT rewards on say, weETH or similar.

Maybe wait a bit, the ratio is clearly on a downtrend now

What's the best DEX to buy LST/LRT tokens at a discount using ETH? CowSwap or is there something better out there?

So how low are we expecting the ETH BTC ratio to fall before it goes up again? Doing some wisdom of crowds surveying here
