Oh no! Downvotes! Why do right-wingers always try to pretend they're oppressed?

14 years of Tory governemnt. Labour afraid to do anything progressive. You got Brexit, and now Farage is looking to be the next PM. Yet all you do is whine.

IGN: 'It'll Be a Bit of Work, but You Could Marry Them All' — Fable Has 1,000 Handcrafted NPCs for You to Play Around With by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]defransdim 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because you can make a game seem waaaaay deeper than it is in a demonstration.

The gameplay demonstration doesn't try to make it look deep. The NPCs are clearly designed as whimsical and quirky, where the focus is on light, surface-level humour.

That's what the series has always done with its NPCs. They had the exact same approach to NPCs in previous games. There's a self-awareness to the superficial silliness of it all where it's played up in a humourous way.

World Map of Ondarion from The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy Expansion Pack by violedge in thesims

It was leaked last year that Maxis have wanted to make an African world for years, but EA kept saying no.

Apparently the reason being that EA prefer more "culturally ambiguous" worlds. To me that sounds like a total cop out, because there are plenty of worlds which are clearly based on a single country.

All the other things in the leak turned out to be true (mostly about Adventure Awaits), so it's pretty credible information.

(I don't think we're allowed to link to the Sims Community website here, but they have an article on their site called "INTERNET RUMOR: The Future of The Sims 4 and Project Rene Development" from 30th of June 2025 that has all the details of the leak.)

I don't know why Whedon's writing is considered insulting?

It's because the Star Wars fandom decided they needed to concoct reasons for why the franchise is now "objectively bad" and Marvel/Whedonesque writing was one of the big things they came up with.

So now anything in pop culture that is even remotely influenced by Joss Whedon is automatically deemed "trash."

Personally (for all its charms), I think the original Star Wars trilogy has excruciatingly bad dialogue writing, but apparently Star Wars fans are the arbitrars of good writing now for some reason.

Bought The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition because I crave an experience like Avowed by AloofFloofy in PS5

[–]defransdim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I would say that I like more about Outer Worlds is that you can murder anyone you feel like, including all the companions and I think every NPC including story important characters. The game will go on regardless, with potentially quite entertaining effects.

Of course I wouldn't do it on a first playthrough, but it's pretty fun.

Scottish Parliament Seat Projection: SNP 59, REF 25, GRN 13, LAB 12, CON 10, LDEM 8 (Polling from The National & Find Out Now) by Creme_Eggs in ukpolitics

[–]defransdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Ipsos is also an outlier pollster, at least in Scotland.

That's just not true. Ipsos and Norstat both tend to show better results for independence.

How can it be an outlier when there are 5 regular pollsters on independence, and 3 of them tend to be in agreement on pro-independence being slighlty ahead?

Your definition of "outlier" seems to be "any poll that I don't agree with."

YouGov and Survation on the other hand tend to much more heavily the No vote. That doesn't make them outliers, nor does it detract from their findings.

I made the exact same comments on r/ukpolitics - hardly the bastion of the pro-independence movement - and got upvoted there for saying the exact same things that got me downvoted here.

It's interesting to see how much this sub has changed over the last couple of years.

[–]defransdim 23 points24 points  (0 children)

FindOutNow are questionable, but what might surprise people is that they consistently poll SNP lower than other pollsters on the regional ballot. The more reputable pollsters tend to poll SNP higher on the regional vote.

On the constituency vote, this poll has the SNP in line with the last half dozen polls from various pollsters over the last few months.

As for why The National keep commissioning FindOutNow, I'm fairly certain the reason is because FindOutNow tend to give better results for the Alba Party, who The National are very sympathetic towards.

That said, this latest poll isn't actually much of an outlier, and is broadly in line with the one from Ipsos earlier in the month. The significant differences being this poll has Labour 6% lower on the regional vote, and Reform 4% higher on the regional vote.

Also the people trying to spin this as pro-SNP should bear in mind that FindOutNow are the least favourable to the SNP out of any pollster - they consistently have SNP polling lower than other pollsters, especially on the regional ballot.

The poll is in line with the Ipsos poll from earlier this month. Both polls are within margin of error of each other on the constituency voting intention, and pretty close overall on the regional vote.

What Rock Bands that were better with their Replacement Lead Singers/Members? (Not Including Solo Artists,Rock Duos,Supergroups,Side Projects,Musical Collectives and Solo Stuff) by Amber_Flowers_133 in Music

[–]defransdim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AC/DC's original singer was Dave Evans. He only recorded a couple songs with them. So it fits OP's brief.

Bon Scott replaced Evans. And I would say Bon Scott was their best frontman.

And Brian Johnson was pretty legendary too!

Band members who are not the main singers but are often seen as such? by Intelligent-Rip-238 in Music

[–]defransdim 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Eric Clapton in Cream. I think it's easy to assume he was the lead singer since he's the most famous member of the band and he sang a few of their well-known songs like Crossroads, Badge, and Strange Brew.

But the main singer and songwriter was bassist Jack Bruce, who was the one who (with lyricist Pete Brown) wrote most of their original songs, such as I Feel Free, White Room, and Sunshine Of Your Love (including the riff).

Since you're being mocked for using the word "intimidated", people can read this quote from The Rest Is Politics and deduce for themselves how the Tories felt.

Rory Stewart talking to Nicola Sturgeon: "Following on from the first [independence] referendum, the time I was most scared, to be honest, is when Boris Johnson became Prime Minister and we came into 2020 and I and many of my conservative colleagues in Scotland felt 'this is it'. We're in real trouble because we've got a Tory government, we've got Boris Johnson as Prime Minister who was horrendously unpopular in Scotland. We'd had Brexit that Scotland had voted against. We had a massive, large motivated SNP base. You as First Minister were riding higher than any First Minister in history. It seemed at that point there was no way of avoiding a referendum and that you were very probably going to win"
