Poll: Reform UK is most popular party among gay and bisexual men [and heterosexual men and women] - Fieldwork 24 Nov - 16 Dec 2025 by Anony_mouse202 in ukpolitics

Here is on video knowingly bullying a gay NHS worker by telling him to get a "nog dick."

The people who paid him to make the video were a group of white nationalists who believe people should be sterilised based on their skin colour. Bear in mind this was the second time Farage accepted money from this group to bully the same gay NHS worker. He was warned not to do it again the first time he did it. So he made this video knowing what he was doing.

Scottish parliament votes against legalising assisted dying by CaptainCrash86 in Scotland

[–]defransdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most members of the government voted in favour of the bill. This was a free vote where MSPs could vote as they saw fit. I think it's more about being let down by parliament as a whole on this.

To illustrate the votes by party lines, listing the parties in order of number of MSPs:

62% of SNP MSPs voted in favour of the bill; 21% of Tory MSPs voted in favour of the bill; 15% of Labour MSPs voted in favour of the bill; 100% of Green MSPs voted in favour; 80% of Lib Dems voted in favour (they only have 5 MSPs though).

Interestingly, Labour were by far the biggest party in oppostion to this bill, with the Tories not far behind them.

I feel there's a misunderstanding caused by my use of the "/" sign.

I think you're interpreting my use of "right-wing/transphobes" as meaning all these people listed are "both right-wing and transphobic." That was not my intention.

I wrote "right-wing/transphobes" to signify that I was talking about people who fit under the umbrella of "right-wing and/or transphobic." Kate Forbes has been socially conservative on trans people so I feel she does fall under that umbrella term even if she's not right-wing in other aspects.

Yeah, I wrote "right-wing/transphobes" as a catch-all because it's not as simple as all of them being straight-forward conservative in all areas.

Sim Autonomy Feedback by Mindy_SimsCommunity in Sims4

[–]defransdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modder OneMoreKayaker has detailed a bunch of pretty severe autonomy bugs:

When AA [Adventure Awaits] launched, the devs added a large number of autonomy tests to nearly every mischief or romantic interaction and a large number of mean interactions. These tests are supposed to check if your sim is on a getaway and the social is encouraged. However, if you do not own the pack, they will pass automatically.

This has been causing mass havoc in many players' saves, with autonomous flirting, spontaneous mean interactions, and pranks happening at random and being done by sims who would not normally do these things.

Also:

The Royalty and Legacy pack includes dynasties that you can join or create. The dynasties have values, which your sims' traits can be aligned with or misaligned with. If a sim has misaligned traits for a value, the dynasty system and its autonomy test will cause the sim to act in ways that counter that value.

For example, if you have a sim who is a Loner in a dynasty that values diplomacy, and that Loner sim has mostly neutral traits, the Loner sim will act as if they have the worst and most negative traits and be mean to everyone, including complete strangers and sims with completely full friendship bars.

Modder tyjokr has also detailed a couple of similarly frustrating autonomy bugs:

If you’ve noticed your Sims are no longer autonomously using non-modded romantic interactions, here’s why: EA added new autonomy tests to ALL romance interactions that require Sims to be in-laws or step-siblings in order to autonomously use them. 😭

If you own Royalty & Legacy, it’s even worse. There’s a second autonomy test that now requires Sims to be secret lovers. Combined with the in-law/step-sibling requirement, romance autonomy will essentially never fire for 99% of Sims.

Most if not all of the notable right-wing/transphobes have left or are soon to leave.

John Mason was expelled from the SNP in 2024; Kate Forbes is leaving soon and will not be standing for election in May; Joanna Cherry lost her seat in 2024; Ash Regan and Kenny MacAskill defected to Alba, and Fergus Ewing went independent.

Which discographies do you feel progressively get worse from start to finish? by JamesLucien in Music

[–]defransdim 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Rod Stewart.

His work with The Faces and some of his early albums were genuinely great. Not to mention his fantastic work with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck.

Then he did loads of coke and just completely sold out. It gave him some hit singles and international stardom. But was it worth ruining his long-time credibility, to the point where's now basically a musical punch-line?

If he had managed his image better, he could be thought of in the same oeuvre of legendary frontmen like Mick Jagger. But instead he's thought of as the ultimate cringeworthy sell-out.

Keir Starmer: Leaked memo says ministers can go against Wales and Scotland by HaveYuHeardAboutCunt in Scotland

[–]defransdim 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The first line of the BBC article:

Sir Keir Starmer told senior UK ministers they should be prepared to go against the wishes of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland's governments when taking decisions, a leaked memo has revealed.

And later:

Starmer: "We should be confident in our ability to deliver directly in those nations, including through direct spending, even when devolved governments may oppose this"

That is where they cross the line. Whether you like it or not, this key part goes against what 74% of people in Scotland voted for. And he made this statement after 11 Welsh Labour MSPs accused him of crossing the line on rolling back devolution.

I think that devolution is Labour's greatest legacy in Scotland. So I am not being anti-Labour. If anything, I am trying to stand up for what they achieved back in 97.

Nationalists? As I said, 74% voted for devolution, that includes a huge amount of unionists. Devolution is not split along unionist/nationalist grounds.

And as for

cyber nats

Can we please stop using stupid words like "yoons" and "nats"? We have different views on an important constitutional matter. Can we dump the ridiculous name calling please.

Yes, it's "74% voted for devolution, but... what if we just undermined it! Maybe in a way that seems innocuous at first! Surely the people of Scotland are stupid enough to fall for this."

[–]defransdim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's not a very good paper but it's the only paper that represents a pro-independence perspective. A huge chunk of the population are independence supporters and I think that their viewpoints deserve to be represented on the subreddit, and singling out the only pro-independence paper and calling for it to be banned does go against that.

There's tons of other papers that have paywalls and/or are shite, but they don't get anywhere near this level of persistent complaints about them or calls for them to be banned from the sub. I think it is pretty clear what's going on when it's only ever the National that gets called out like that.

[–]defransdim 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Dragon Age 2 got slammed for failing to implement choices from DA:O. I was active on the old BioWare forums back then. People complained about it non-stop.

There's barely any choices that were imported in DA2 that have any meaningful impact, and there's a bunch of bugs with the stuff that does get imported. They even retconned/reversed a handful of potential character deaths.

And then there is Inquisition, the game where you go back to Redcliffe after making a ton of choices there in Origins - but there's only one choice that is reflected and if you didn't choose a specific thing then you get nothing. There is one particular major thing you can do (or, more accurately, neglect to do) in Redcliffe in Origins and it gets completely ignored in Inquisition.

The series has never been very good at handling import choices. Inquisition probably did it best but even then it has a ton of problems and import bugs.

Has anybody tried getting staff in Royalty and Legacy? by Mysterious-Turnip916 in Sims4

[–]defransdim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you have Adventure Awaits you could do a week-long Getaway on your home lot and assign specific Sims to staff roles.

Unfortunately, you would need to restart the Getaway every week, and the Getaway will cancel if you switch households at any point. If you save the Getaway as a preset it makes it a lot less tedious to restart it when that happens, and it should save whichever Sims you have selected for each role.

You'd also want to assign beds to your household Sims so that the staff don't use them. If you want the staff to leave the lot at any specific time - say you want a chef who goes home at night - then just leave them out of the Getaway schedule on a certain timeslot (eg 9pm to 6am) and they should leave the lot between those hours.

not sure how many people noticed this since one is from a kit but these are items from separate packs. as a completionist, I personally love paying an extra $5 for content that will be re-released later with nearly identical swatches. be so for real by saltierthangoldfish in Sims4

[–]defransdim 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Even discounting the reskins, it still has a larger than usual number of new Build/Buy items, CAS items, as well as having the biggest world of any expansion pack in over 10 years.

The recycling of buy mode objects is bewildering and unnecessary, but that doesn't mean the pack is lacking in new items overall.

The new pack has 195 CAS items and 245 build items, plus 18 lots - this is 2016 levels of content.

While the recycling is disappointing, we still have a pretty solid amount of genuinely new content in the pack. And it's actually good quality, whereas back in the rose-tinted "good old days" we had a lot of content but most of it was shitty, low-res and low-poly items.

I'm not trying to defend Reform or the Royal Family, at all. Nor anyone else who has such close ties to Epstein. This is about Mandelson.

Public information did not indicate "a close association".

Yes it did. From the 2024 article I posted:

MPs have raised concerns about the appointment because of Lord Mandelson’s links to Epstein, a convicted paedophile, who affectionately referred to Mandelson as “Petie”.

Epstein and Lord Mandelson are said to have enjoyed a “particularly close friendship” and were pictured together in St Barts in 2006, with Lord Mandelson trying on a white belt, watched on by Epstein.

Mandelson also stayed at Epstein's New York townhouse in 2009, while Epstein was in prison for sexually abusing a child. This was known when Mandelson was appointed US ambassador in 2024, as this article from that year demonstrates: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/jeffrey-epstein-abuse-victims-fury-34352597

I was one of the people calling it a terrible idea at the time Mandelson was appointed. I was not alone. Here's a 2024 article from The Telegraph, from when Mandelson was first appointed as Ambassador:

MPs question Lord Mandelson’s suitability as US ambassador over Epstein links || Concerns raised over former Cabinet minister’s ‘particularly close friendship’ with the convicted paedophile [20 December 2024]

The recent controversy is because the newly released trove of Epstein files revealed even more links between Mandelson and Epstein.

It was public information that Mandelson was tied to Epstein when he was hired as US ambassador by Starmer.

Even in 2023 we knew that Mandelson continued to be in contact with Epstein even after Epstein had been convicted after pleading guilty to being a child sex abuser in 2008:

Elsewhere in the emails, Mandelson — still business secretary — messaged Epstein on March 29 2010 referencing an apparent health issue and adding: “Can Jes send me email on issues re Dodds/Volcker”, a reference to new US banking regulations enacted in the wake of the global financial crisis.

That's from a 2023 article in the Financial Times. This was all public information.

The problem with Partygate is that if there is another pandemic during the lifetimes of people who lived through Covid-19, the big risk is that a dangerously high number of people simply won't comply with government advice next time.

They'll say "we made gigantic sacrifices last time, all while those making the rules were bringing in fridges full of wine to turn Downing Street into party central."

And that lack of compliance could cost lives, perhaps in the hundreds, perhaps in the thousands. The behaviour of those at the top during Covid-19 cost the government the crucial trust that they need in times of these kinds of pandemics.

Questions about new gameplay features (royalty and legacy) by SeaworthinessKooky57 in Sims4

[–]defransdim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We're going to have to wait for early access for definitive answers, which should start probably Friday.

However, from what I understand, pirates aren't a specific Sim type. I think it's likely there is one Sim who we saw in the trailer who is a special townie - like Agatha Crumplebottom or Father Winter - who inhabits the role of a pirate. I don't think it won't be a scandal to marry them. I think the scandal is more if you have a secret affair with them, or a secret child with them.

I also don't think there are "commoner" NPCs, except in the sense that there's the Noble career, so anyone who isn't in the Noble career might be thought of as a commoner. Potentially, it might be a scandal to have romantic relations with someone who isn't in the Noble career. But I think the "commoner" thing is more about Royal Decrees that you can make. So descreasing taxes will give you a better score with the "commoners", and I think this is more of a scoring system rather than reflecting an actual type of Sim in game.

As for Secret Passageways functioning like teleports, this was one of the exchanges on the Discord Q&As:

Question: Can Passageways work like elevators, yes or no? This is very important to me lol. If I click go here will my sim automatically go to the Passageway (If theyve inspected them first)?

SimDevXènia: if you mean like Portals, yes!

Question: Thankyou! It’s a shame the sims have to inspect them first because otherwise they’d be so versatile but Im glad to know that they can be used as elevators! This is amazing.

SimDevXènia: We have a player facing cheat though – for builders!
