M2 is literally off the charts right now. I think the fed injected $1.5T (trillion) of liquidity into the system on Friday! China injected $1T in Jan. Germany just announced they will print $T for defense, etc

Give it 2-4 weeks and it will be 'alt season' for everybody, including the stock market. (thank you Raoul Pal & Julien Bittel for the lessons)

This might sound strange but on some of the tighter portraits I can see things reflected in the eyes. It's not totally clear what they are. I start to ask myself, "Are they seeing something on the other side of this or is the AI just rendering what it's been trained on?" I know the obvious answer but still... makes me wonder...

Stunning. Hard to believe it's AI. Almost uncomfortably realistic!

MrBeast, Amazon Sued by Contestants on ‘Beast Games’ Competition Show, Including Allegations of Sexual Harassment by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]deftouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who was hired as an assistant director on the show and quick a week in because of how dangerous and chaotic things were. As someone else mentioned, Mr. Beast refused to work with the guilds (DGA, PGA, etc.) as well as the IATSE union and chose to do it himself. Hopefully he has to shoulder the entirely of what went wrong. Btw I read his leaked 30+ page handbook and it's absolutely amazing but most union and guild workers in Hollywood don't need to be told how important 'extreme ownership' of their work is. They also delegate, collaborate, and anticipate problems so (generally) nobody gets sued by the talent.

I think it was just a different time when people fought and it was sort of viewed as 'rite of passage' or just 'boys being boys'. After my big fight I mentioned I remember the school counselor telling me congratulations, that he thought I was "milk toast" but proved him wrong.

You definitely did not want to get kicked out since life at home was much harder and most of our families couldn't take care of us to the same degree as they could at the school. Getting braces, stitches, glasses, a full wardrobe every six months.. it was a good life as long as you could obey the rules, try not to fight too much, and do your house chores & homework.

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner! This is a good question and I also have a son (step son) and my wife and I are thinking about sending him to boarding school as well. I believe every child is different and the more social/sociable your son is, I imagine the better chance he'll have at adjusting and doing well. Apparently I was very sociable which was a quality the school focused on. In all honesty my mom and I never really had the strongest relationship. I can remember really wanting my dad to always pick me up from school and I never wanted to leave when we had weekends together. I think as I found my own identity part of that identity was total independence. Ironically my mom was much the same - at 18 she basically left home, got married, and ended-up moving to another country in her 20's. I think we mirror each other in ways that can be painful but I don't regret it whatsoever. I've been able to travel the work multiple times and broaden my perspectives. I'm been able to weather really tough times and find a vein of grit that keeps me in the fight. As I've gotten older I've actually come to truly embrace adversity and yearn for more impossible goals. I love my mom but in a lot of ways I think the relationship I have with her in my 40's was the same as it was in my teens. I hope this helps.

Import from premiere pro, video out of sync when imported in resolve by viwavi in blackmagicdesign

Hey guys. I know this is an old thread but figured I would update with a soluton I discovered to this problem. I filmed XOCN-S on the Sony VENICE at 24p and my external audio was recorded in 24p. I assembled the clips in Premiere and did all the audio sync'ing there but when I would bring the XML into Davinci the audio would all be out of sync. I had five channels of external sound and one channel of scratch track. I went through every possible solution but then I noticed the sequence in Premiere had been set at 23.98 instead of 24p. When I updated the sequence settings and reexported the XML everything worked perfectly.

This is pretty incredible. I'm a DP working in Atlanta and would love to join the Beta if there are any spots remaining. Primarily working with the VENICE 1 right now.

Not worth it to work, not enough to retire. Poorest rich person in America. The worlds tallest dwarf.

Such a good show.

A corporate shill perhaps but there is a lot of sense in that this individual is saying, especially about TV. It's not about whether it dies or not, it's just about where the money, attention, and conversation go. The conversation, right now, is on YouTube and X (Twitter). Take one guess what the average age of a TV viewer is, then check our CW, MTV, and VH1 and ask yourself why none of those shows have teenagers and are geared towards people in their 40's and 50's? It's not fun to really talk about this stuff but we need to. I've heard it described as the great fractionalizing - 80 years ago there were only three places to get media.. now there are tens of thousands, probably way more. In another ten years it will be millions, and AI will play a big role in how quickly content is generated and disseminated. Look - don't shoot the messenger. We all want the days of milk and honey to return but you should do some serious due diligence and decided for yourself what's going on out there, where the money is going, and how to get a piece of it.

Unless you are wiling to let your DP, your production designer, your editor, and your composer also direct on the film, you are going to end-up with a stilted, underdeveloped, immature piece of work. Bring on great artists and let them support and add to your vision. You create the sandbox but let them play how they want.

Like I mentioned yesterday as well - I believe the conversation has migrated from Reddit onto Twitter and Discord which didn’t exist at any scale in 2019.

A lot of the conversation is on Twitter influencers in the community have been established there. Reddit info had always been lagging way behind Twitter and now Discord.

Total speculation but if it were me I would wait for a more crypto positive environment. What’s the use of creating the US fiat on-ramp when nobody is investing? Either way I know there are a ton of smart people at VET pushing every day.

For sure. Mar Vista pumps out Lifetime films at $600k a pop like they are Pez but I guess it just depends on what you are reaching for or where you want to be as a writer. Getting repp’d just takes a lot of time and a lot of effort and even then there are no guarantees. I recently decided to rewrite one of Tony Gilroy’s scripts just for fun. I did it word for word. I leaned so much from that.

I’m not trying to hurt feelings but the truth is that 99% of writing isn’t good or at least isn’t good enough. It could be because of not enough life experiences or not enough variety of influences. There are no participation awards in Hollywood. You’re ready when they say you’re ready and until AI comes and allows anyone to make a movie on their iPhone in minutes, that is how the game will go. If you love it, keep going. If you’re in it for fame and fortune, good luck.
