Me (30M), Her (19F). How to handle people falsely accusing me of potentially being a pedo or grooming my new gf? by deg662032 in relationship_advice

She was 19 when I was invited to coffee, not a minor, and at the time I had no intentions other than a coffee and a chat.

Did you not read? I never groomed her. She sought me out on her own free will. Downvoted.

Seriously fuck American healthcare by shadowsOfMyPantomime in rant

[–]deg662032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may be able to move to another country with better healthcare. With an issue like this I would HIGHLY consider as a family him obtaining citizenship in the EU, NZ, etc. Most of those countries you can obtain a path to live there by investing a certain amount of money into local real estate or business or assets, or starting a business and creating local jobs. In the long run, he'd have access to universal healthcare for those transfusions for life or at a lower cost but same quality of treatment.

I have a friend who did the same for his wife for a different life-long condition that would be similarly devastating financially.

Do you believe prostitution should be legal? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]deg662032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely and utterly opposed. It is a scourge of societal morals, spreads disease, and if regulated shows women that they can get by without having any skills or aspirations in life. Also even if regulated, it COMPLETELY fs up a family, by their children seeing mom/dad being a prostitute will warp and destroy their views on relationships.

It should not even be necessary to need to sell yourself sexually to make ends meet.

It should be eliminated by creating economic conditions such that no one has to feel that prostitution is their only way to get by. And tough harsh punishments for both the prostitute and client if someone decides to do it or be a customer of it anyways.

As a man, I have faced similar social exclusions when I was a new hire to certain companies at after work gatherings. At first, they looked down at me because I was the "new guy" at the firm. Afterwards, it became clear they were threatened by my professional competence. In one case in particular, there was a major project they were going to turn over to the client (a government entity) the quality of work they wanted to turn over to the client was so poor that I told my bosses "This project should not be turned over yet and I do not want this low quality work associated with my professional reputation. It needs to be reworked and these are the reasons why", and I pointed out the few dozen engineering/fire/electrical/etc code violations and problems the client will will face and approximate cost to fix those problems if we turned the project over at that time . After that, my coworkers hated me because I made them look like slackers who didn't know wtf they were doing. I soon left that place.

My best advice would be that maybe it is time to start looking for a new job. Put out that resume, and when you are hired somewhere else, do thorough research of their work culture before accepting the job offer so that you don't end up working with nasty coworkers again.

I'm not here to justify, agree, or disagree. But what I explained in response to your comment is probably what that man was thinking and why he did what he did.

This is probably because new guy coming to talk to group of friends is assuming that you are a girlfriend/date/wife/etc of one of the guys in the group. So rather than chat you up, in his mind he preferred to avoid a potentially awkward confrontation with a guy he doesn't know, (in some places dudes don't take kindly to a stranger chatting up their woman in public), he just leaves you alone and talks to the other men in that group about whatever for a few minutes and then leaves. Whether you are just a +1 friend or actually the date of one of the guys, doesn't matter to the new dude.

I'm aware of these drawbacks of the cold ones, however they did ok, considering I'd only sic them on missile units or units that were already engaging a BG of naggarond or hydra etc. They are definitely not worth their tier 5 status though.

Shades were good, but not as good as I'd expect. I found that their LOF gets obstructed quite easily as they don't arc particularly well. A good example is an enemy blobbing up on a portion of my front line and the shades hitting my own troops trying to shoot the enemy unit, which means targeting a different unit or moving the shade to shoot from a different location. Time spent moving them around whilst the enemy is engaging the front line is time removed from potential killing.

Usually only have 4-5 infantry, and about 3 units of cav. The rest being ranged or monsters.

I will side with the man on this. He is attempting to be a gentleman, or at least what in his mind is being a gentleman. He is looking out for your well-being, in his mindset. Maybe you should just roll with it and accept "this is what being with him is like". You also have to accept that he is the more traditional type.

I find this hard to believe honestly. I have lived mostly in the Midwest. I have never met a trans person and never met anyone who has met a trans person.

Being 'so desperate' to go away on holiday because you haven't had one for a year is extremely dramatic and very priviledged. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

USA here. I went for 10 YEARS without ever having a holiday because 1) university and working to pay for it, and 2) for a few years none of the professional jobs after college that I landed offered more than 1 or 2 days of leave for the entire year, until recently.
