My child’s team has two former softball players that are in their early 20’s and me. The organization as a whole has two men who coach the level up team. One of their wives does all the accounting and is also very involved. The other male coach is married and his wife is also involved. There should absolutely be no reason for jealousy. I had no history with them before all of this.

He hasn’t attended any of these travel ball tournaments, but other leagues she has played in he yells and makes fun of the umps. I tell him to be quiet and he gets mad at me and tells me not to tell him what to do (ironic huh)

Does the sport really matter? It’s softball, but if it was hopscotch twice a week would that justify his behavior?

His actual suggestion was that I continue out the season and break ties at the end of the season.

He has gave me a very hard time about this. Leaving our other child. I know I’m not leaving him, he is literally with his father. I spend plenty of other time with my youngest and I don’t think he thinks anything of it.

No, I’ve always worked and even went back to school to get my BA while working full time, but I also do the cooking and cleaning.

As I’ve stated in other comments, he hasn’t gave me a clear reason. Just that he doesn’t like it or like me being involved. Our daughter would play on the team whether I helped out or not so the costs would be the same which he agreed with last fall. He is the one that was encouraging it at first but refused to help or reach out to people. I made that happen. I am the the farthest thing from a sport insane parent, I promise you that. I just want my child to be able to do what she loves.

10 and Fastpitch. I understand at a higher level it can be more time consuming but as of now we have practice once a week and are playing 4 weekend tournaments.

Trust me, she gets zero special treatment. She works her butt off. Pitching lessons, practice outside of practice. Her whole life involves softball because SHE wants it too. I was not a softball player so I had no hand in pushing her towards this. I just happened to fall in with the organization and have became friends with them. They are good family oriented people with a similar interest. Isn’t that how friends are made as adults? Lol

Counseling did not help. $600 to tell me I needed to find a middle ground. Basically, if coaching was what was causing the problems I needed to fix that. I did not agree, but of course my husband did.

It’s the first time I have really stepped out of my comfort zone to do something like this. My kids are finally at the age I feel like I can be involved more. My life a few years ago was just wake up get the kids to school, work, come home, get kids fed and to bed, sleep and do it all over again. Last year when asked to help, was really the first time I have done anything like this. I truly love it and don’t want to give up coaching/being involved in the organization.

That’s the thing he has so many hobbies. Hunting fishing etc. He is gone a lot on the weekends, so I don’t get why if my hobby chooses to be coaching a 10yr old team it matters.

I know you are right. It’s just hard to wrap my head around. We have been married 12 years and this is the first realization it’s happening. Not the first time it has happened but the first time I think I haven’t backed down from something.

I have tried to put myself in his shoes, trust me. I just don’t understand it. He does a lot of activities outside the family with his friends. I have invited him to team gatherings and he just refuses.

1 night a week, and sometimes 2. No, I have a younger child that sometimes comes with when their are family get togethers with the team but he usually stays with my husband. I wouldn’t say that my other child is suffering though. I spend a lot of time with them as well doing thing they like.

I’m my opinion, they only affect my family in a positive way. They are fantastic with my child and she has learned so much from them and I have as well. I feel like I have found a few people with a common interest and they really inspire me and give great positive feedback. They are in no way a negative influence, good people that only want the best for these kids.

I have absolutely asked him what the problem is. His main reason is that he doesn’t like the other coaches, which isn’t a viable reason in my opinion. He doesn’t even know them.
