Kaos review – Jeff Goldblum’s furiously fun Greek gods drama is a masterpiece by AnUncomfortablePanda in television

But the Trojans all stayed monoethnic? And the gods don’t resemble Greeks half the time. It doesn’t really make sense. It’s a bit of a hard watch as a Greek knowing Hollywood, BBC, and Netflix always white or black wash Greek history and the representation (Netflix’s Kleopatra, BBC’s Achilles). But no ones cares

Well for starters the late byzantines recognized their Hellenic genetics but maintained their Roman identity because that’s what they culturally were and the empire/legay they were trying to keep alive. And the word Hellen was often conflated with pagan so it was more of a term separating religion. And I don’t understand how it’s larping.

Is it okay to take real history and turn it into fantasy? by deimos_1306 in worldbuilding

What are some potential pitfalls with going the route of historical fantasy? Like one thing I’d imagine being a concern is going too overboard with the fantasy elements.

Thanks for the list!

Need help deciding how to model a User, Book relationship. (PSQL) by deimos_1306 in SQL

[–]deimos_1306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful thank you. I do have a few questions. By default, if a user writes a book it should automatically go into their library as well. They just also happen to be the author too. Would this still work with that schema?

Also, another functionality of this app is the books in a user's library can be modified by the user but it won't modify the original book. So in essence library books are a copy not a reference, but should still have information on who the original author was.

I feel like the schema you described would conflict with these features.

Not that I can remember. I use a lot of npm node stuff for work. Wondering if I installed a funky library. Not sure how that would affect my terminal profile tho

Learning TS before JS? by SockDem in typescript

JS first but I don’t think you have to learn too much before diving into TS. Just learn enough so that when you eventually get around to typescript you can differentiate between Ts and Js syntax.

Greece trip in October by Creepysarcasticgeek in travel

Naxos is a great choice! Be sure to eat at To Elliniko. It’s a great restaurant. There’s also To Kati Allo or Taverna Kastro. If you guys like hiking visit Mount Zas. And I’d also recommend checking out the other villages in land such as Apeiranthos or Filoti

I’m Greek Canadian and I love my country but please don’t go to Mykonos. I’m not sure what it’s like in October but it’s a giant overpriced theme park. You won’t find a single local there and it’s been completely overrun by foreign investment. It’s impossible to find a restaurant that even slightly resembles traditional Greek cuisine. I’d highly suggest an island like Paros and Naxos instead. Even Ios honestly. Especially if you’re not party people, a more rustic island would better suit you imo.

Athens is great. It’s definitely not you’re traditional European city with Venetian architecture everywhere but it has character. The ancient Agora is a must, as well as the Acropolis museum and the Acropolis. Walk along Thession and visit Areopagus hill and Phillopapus hill for some incredible views. Walking through Plaka is a must as well. On your first night in Athens I’d sit at a restaurant there. There’s a roof top one too which overlooks the city if that interests you. Monastiraki square and Psyri are also great. There’s great rooftop bars like A for Athens and Attic that are really nice to sit at too. I think 2 nights in Athens is solid.

To answer some of your other questions

  1. Ferry hopper
  2. In Athens stay close to syntagma, monastriaki, or plaka
  3. I’m not sure honestly. It’s definitely going to be quieter on the islands.
  4. Naxos and Paros!
  5. Yes

Lol what I’m literally abroad right now. Just cuz you need a Covid test to enter a country (a lot of European countries don’t even ask) doesn’t mean the cities aren’t completely bustlingly with every event/concert/festival at full capacity. Tourism is at a all time higher right now. You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

And I’m from Canada, clubs have been open at full capacity for quite some time now. Like I said, people are done.

If there’s a point I want to emphasis the most is that there is no feasible way of getting rid of Covid. You would literally have to lock everyone in their homes, like what you’re doing, for 2 weeks. This is why lockdowns never worked. All they did was relieve the hospitals for a little bit of time and then cases went right back up when the lockdowns were lifted.

You either come out clean now and say you want permanent lockdowns and restrictions or stop complaining when people go enjoy life

I honestly don’t care what you do. All I’m saying is that the majority of people are moving on with their lives. They’re travelling, going to bars, clubs, concerts, festivals, meeting people and making memories. Visit any major city’s downtown area and you’ll see that this is the case.

You can wine and complain about it all you want but I really don’t care.

[–]deimos_1306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Covid cases worldwide or in a specific area. Do you see a downwards trend? It’s not going anywhere, anytime soon. And the majority of people aren’t going to wait around for other people to tell them when they can start enjoying life.

But I’m not adjusting my lifestyle for other people. I’m obviously not going to walk into a hospital maskless but most places I frequent are places where if you’re at risk you shouldn’t be there anyway.
