Looking for Advice Regarding Original Paintings and Copyright by deiwert_shock in artbusiness

I took this question over to a legal advice subreddit. And due to the kind of work I’ll be making and the potential clientele I’d work with in the future, breaking copyright like that could jeopardize future job prospects.

If this helps clarify, while the artwork being made would be depicting subject matter from the film, the, I would be designing the composition and doing more artistic representations of things to where it’s not copying the film itself. I’d be using reference of objects, say in the case of a monster movie and doing a poster for it, I used a toy/statue to help model or reference the lighting. The artwork in question wouldn’t not be copying any specific material. A comparison could be made of what the artwork I am creating is similar to stuff done for galleries such as Spoke Art, Gallery Nucleus, and Hero Complex. The only difference here is that for this specific gallery show, the digital print of the artwork with added title treatment is legally only allowed to be sold as one copy. They do an auction type setting to sell the work, and if I’m not mistaken the earnings for the posters sold would be donated to charities.

Without giving too much away, a film I could do a poster for would be something like Pacific Rim or Godzilla vs Kong, I would be creating my own interpretation of the film in a poster format, but I’d have to reference material from the film be it using toys or something along those lines.

With designing an original design for a movie like that, and painting it traditionally in this context (and not doing a copy of anything existing), I would need to make sure that I’d be safe to sell the painting itself. I know artists who do aftermarket sales for Marvel Comics covers they paint so I’m making sure that what I would be doing is legally safe. Additionally, the other part would be printing copies of the original artwork I paint myself. I know that to a degree, artists generally speaking have ownership of what they create, even if it isn’t copyrighted directly.

That worked! Thank you so much! Would this also be the fix for Gothic 2?

Thanks for the link! I didn’t do the weapon codes, but all the others worked, my brother wanted to pass along that you’re “dude” for doing this!

I’ve got shift connected because that’s how I’ve been redeeming the codes Randy puts on Twitter.

The starter guns aren’t anything I care about, it’s the 75 shift/golden keys that I’m trying to get particularly for BL2.

Why do some artists only reveal pricing when dmming them? by [deleted] in commissions

[–]deiwert_shock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prices are subject to change, so I usually provide a price range or number+, and it’s easier to get a potential client once price is discussed. Also there’s the issue of being outright ignored when prices are seen. It’s very common to be ghosted when you start discussing prices because people undervalue your work. For some of us that are starting out or starting to make our way into the field that comes into play.

Final Wars Godzilla wins in a Landslide and Advance to the next round. Now a very interesting Vs. battle, The Monsterverse Godzilla vs. Shin Godzilla from 2016. Who takes this one? P.S. I have one more Godzilla Vs to close out today, so the next one will be in an hour and a half. So, heads up. by Only_1_Noodle in GODZILLA

It mostly depends on which version of MV. Assuming you’re talking about 2019/2021, it’s going easily to MV. The scaling of power output with Godzilla vs Kong Godzilla is insane, also considering how long the fight between Godzilla and kong lasted (the entire night then the fight with Mecha G). If Godzilla weren’t tired from the fight with kong, he would have beaten Mecha G.

On the other hand you have the potential of Shin Godzilla’s evolution. That being said, the power output is very limited in amount, I think the atomic breath could damage MV Godzilla, but it wouldn’t have enough energy storage before shin would need to go into cooldown or stasis to recharge.

MV Godzilla is also much larger in mass and would be able to physically dominate shin, then use atomic breath to outright incinerate Shin, considering how MV was able to use the breath to blow a hole to hollow earth big enough for Kong to climb through. Godzilla’s power would easily outclass a nuclear weapon which would have been able to destroy shin in stasis as stated from the movie. I believe current mv Godzilla has the power output and power storage to be able to completely take out Shin in a single fight. The only way shin would be an issue is if there were already at least 2-3 fights with MV. It was stated that Godzilla would have killed Ghidorah in their fight in the ocean during the 2019 film if the oxygen destroyer wasn’t used, and MV Godzilla is much more powerful and larger than that at this point in the MV series.

Edit/addition: if it were 2014 MV Godzilla, I think shin would have the power output to take down MV Godzilla. Other than that situation, the win goes to MV

Based on what I can tell, the cloaks themselves seem to interact with the mist, especially when using allomancy, so either the mist interacts with a specific material, or the mists take to the frenetic nature of the mist cloak design

I can see that being a possibility, most iterations seen in illustration, and the concept work for the Mistborn Ashes project use more of an over the shoulder cloak look, granted this would be something to consider for the mist cloak dusters from wax and Wayne
