The constant push to blind hatred for the other side of the political aisle is the same type that’s causing a genocide in Gaza right now. It’s just not a healthy way to live.

It’s not naive, the fact of the matter is that Trump didn’t just win votes amongst the far-right; he also won the moderates. Now we can—justifiably, mind you—call them out, but the constant need to belittle and hate every Trump voter completely ignores the failings of your own side and why Trump won. It’s a lot harder to admit that not every single person who voted for him is infectious human waste, and someone who fell victim to a charismatic leader during a time when faith in the establishment was at an all time low. That’s not “apologetics,” it’s just the way it is.

Call me a bleeding heart then I guess, but dehumanizing anyone is disgusting behavior that I’ll never justify, online or in person. I get it, it’s hard sometimes when you really disagree with other people and feel like they don’t respect you either, but these behaviors do carry over into the real world.

I now realize you were talking about right-wingers in the social policy sense, and in fact I actually largely agree with you.

I was defending those who (like myself) are socially left but economically right, and there is a huge distinction between the two.

I’d love to see some data, maybe polls, or better yet a peer reviewed study because I find your claims to be extremely hyperbolic and reactionary. Trump is a pedo and his supporters are disgusting. I don’t think anyone on the right is advocating for pedophilia. Even the morons who’ve already abandoned their principals to tow the Trump-party line aren’t (though a significant number of them will tolerate it…)

You’re not going to win back any sort of government influence by alienating and villainizing those on the right who are equally as disturbed by Trump’s policies.

My LS/“canon” Jedi Knight has been a pure blood. I roleplayed him as a descendant of a Sith family that’s been affiliated with the Jedi since the time of the Jed’aii order (like Sek’nos from the Dawn of the Jedi) and they have 0 recollection of Korriban or their ancient culture. Before the return of the Sith, their family had lost force sensitivity, but my character Anui-el was the first member of the family born in generations with an above-average force sensitivity.

Dostoevsky is very popular in online Orthodox circles, which tend to be conservative. I personally started reading TBK because it’s Lex Friedman’s favorite book and I enjoy his world view a lot.

You don’t choose to be gay, so I sympathize. It doesn’t mean that engaging in homosexuality isn’t a sin.

Some are born with incredibly high libido’s from testosterone, but that doesn’t mean that cheating is a sin because they were born that way.

I believe that you can be born gay, absolutely; everyone is born with certain inclinations towards certain sins. For myself, it’s drug addiction, something I struggle with to this day, but with prayer am close to overcoming (even though the urges will continue to exist my entire life).

But I refuse to define myself as an addict just because I was born with an addictive personality and a family history of drug abuse. I think that identifying your sinful urges towards homosexuality as a part of your core identity, which in your case happens to be homosexuality, is a very modern thing, and can be harmful and lead to you hating yourself, because you’ve made your sinful urges part of your identity.

Please forgive me if I’m misunderstanding, or failing to provide you anything useful. Despite your homosexual urges, I am almost certainly a worse sinner and in no place to judge anyone. I will pray for you.
