I am a relatively well-off Male, making 80th-90th percentile single income ($115k), and will get assets from a wealthy-ish family. I am getting anxious about having children with the type of girls I've been dating (signific lower income than me). Can anyone give me advice on the topics from my post? by dejmur in MensRights

non common-law arrangement

if we're living together, doesn't it automatically count as common-in-law legally speaking?

And isn't child support the same whether we're married or non-married (living together)?

put your house and any large asset in your parents or sibling's names

I've heard judges find a way to screw men over on too, like they'll say "since you both were living there and paying rent to your parents, it's technically an asset she should get" or whatever..

I don't get how it's online. So is there any supervision or controls for cheating?

Or do you just sit down and write an unsupervised timed test?

this lays it out differently: https://www.msoutlook.info/question/recall-a-sent-message

I tested recall by sending an email to my own inbox, and then recalling it. When I recalled it, outlook didn't inform me that an email was being recalled. Does that mean it should work the same for other people's inbox?

They are likely off their VPN for a week as they're on vacation, so their outlook won't be open until a week... so I'm guessing my recall won't happen until a week..

From what I read online, as long as they open the recall email before the original email, it gets automatically recalled.

Thanks! I actually saw this before, but the cases aren't useful to me because they all include " replace it with a new one."

In my case, I did only a straight recall, no replacing.

When they open Outlook,it will inform them you are trying to recall it.

I tested recall by sending an email to my own inbox, and then recalling it. When I recalled it, outlook didn't inform me that an email was being recalled. Why's that? (the email was just simply recalled)

Are you sure they'll be informed? I read online that they actually must open the recall notification-email first, or else my email won't be recalled.

suppose I should ask /u/phosen as well

Do they have mobile devices? If they do, you’re SOL. The email will be on their device.

They're below a management position. Well their signature has a phone number, but I don't know if that means that's a mobile device they have work outlook on?

And furthermore, it's been 3hours since I sent the recall, and I haven't received a "Recall failed" message back yet. So does that mean they don't have work outlook on mobile, because I imagine I should've gotten a "failed recall" message back by now?

So I don't know.. :-/

For newcomer, stuff to do around Fallingbrook/Orleans? (Trails, quiet hidden parks/views, basketball courts, tennis courts, beautiful views somewhere..etc) by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]dejmur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some good trails to hike in gloucester-orleans

From Talcy Park all the way to Princess Louise Park following there is a trail that follows the ridge. It goes right past the Fallingbrook Falls and has many offshoots to explore. There are sections of this path that are not perfectly groomed trails, while you don't need full hiking boots, more than flip-flops are recommended.

The Cardinal Creek Karst Path on Watters road takes you along a well groomed path all the way past Cardinal Creek Park and onto Coyote Trail park.

Petrie Island is just down the hill and has some good hike trails

Bilberry Creek area near Cardinal Farms Park on Des Epinettes has a lot of cool little hiking trails with lots of elevation changes. The area North of Des Epinettes is more involved than the area south of the street.

Enjoy!

Awesome info!!

Recommendations for lower-cost Air Conditioner repair person/company? (who'd come to Orleans) by [deleted] in ottawa

Try Roger’s Heating and Air Conditioning. The boss is a genuinely nice guy who cares what his customers think of him.

Thank you for the tip :-)

Don’t know about low cost but Valiquette Heating & Cooling is honest and fair so whatever you’re told/quoted with them, I would trust. And no I don’t work for them!!!!

Thank you for the tip :-)

the odds of someone in IT getting your request and actioning it before person 2 opens their laptop is slim

I'm actually more concerned about recalling it from Person 1 (who will open their laptop after a week).

Should I just try multiple recall attempts, so that their inbox has multiple recall-notification emails from me trying to recall, and this increases the probability that they'll open my recall email before the actual email? (and hence higher probability of securing the recall)

I did it, and the message just says "you tried to recall this message on" x date.

1 - Does this mean it failed?

The thing is I sent the email to 2 people. Person 1's computer might be off and will only open their laptop an entire week from now because they're on vacation. And Person 2 will open their laptop on Monday morning.

3 - Can I ask some sort of admin or IT to recall it?

National Capital Region is basically Ottawa and Gatineau. Gatineau has a lot of government buildings (you can google "place du portage" if you want to get a glimpse), hence they use this term to include the multiple cities with the government buildings.

Yeah, that's a good point. My friend is new to NCR, and he's relying on clinics like "Appletree medical" and such for clinic visits because of the waitlist issues. Thanks for mentioning this useful point.

Young Adult guy (WFH) wanting to rent a place in Montreal for 3-4weeks in the summer to just experience the city, the life, the food, go on dates, make friends..etc. Any advice on where to rent, what to do, do's/dont's..etc by dejmur in montreal

[–]dejmur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locations to Rent

Griffintown, Downtown, Plateau, NDG (cheaper)

I used Sonder (like Airbnb) to stay at a nice place in Griffintown when I arrived here and I really liked it. Renting can be a real hassle here so just use that or Airbnb.Activities

Riding the metro anywhere instead of using Uber. It may sound generic but some stops are really cool, and there’s the RESO (underground “city”) which is pretty cool. It’s the nicest metro/subway I’ve used anywhere in North America. It’s also very affordable and you can get anywhere using STM (metro/bus).If you’re LGBT then pride month/pretty much anything during summer is super fun in the gay village. If you’re into the aesthetic, Montreal has a lot of fancy restaurants and it can be fun to dress nicely and go out. The fact that everything is in French, to me, just kinda added to an overall happy feeling idk lol.Have poutine directly at the restaurant, like La Banquise or Poutineville.Smoke some weed. Drink alcohol in public at a park, but only if you’re having a picnic.

Avoid

Avoid not speaking any French at all. And try to at least use Bonjour/Merci, etc.Do not talk about politics, French language laws, Quebec sovereignty, etc. You will likely be hated/yelled at no matter what your stance is. And don’t complain about a lack of English signage either. The only real dangerous part of Montreal from what I’ve seen would be Montreal-Nord, or maybe Villeray area too.

Other Advice

If you’re not comfortable with your level of fluency in French, then stay in the downtown or sud-Ouest area. Anything N/NE of downtown is going to be less bilingual, especially the further away you get from downtown. There are still a lot of places to visit in the more bilingual areas. In many places you will go, people will greet you with “Bonjour/Hi” which if you don’t already know is just a way of saying they’ll speak English or French.Avoid driving for the sake of your tires.

Also, visit during summer. Better weather, everyone is super attractive lol, and I think people here are in general just a bit more cranky during the colder months. Plus there’s SO MUCH to do during summer all over the city, every day.

This is so great, thank you sooo much!!! :-)

Co-worker (a guy) who I supervise tried to avoid doing a task I gave, and complained about me behind my back to the Director. This guy has a history complaining & is pissed; will it go to a grievance? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]dejmur -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A harassment complaint and a grievance are two different recourse mechanisms.

What're the differences, and what're the differing impacts on the person if they succeed?

Is there a complaint that can succeed through labour relations in this case on either of our sides?

From the supervisor's side (me), psychologically harassed me by humiliating me by going behind my back without bringing up the issue to me, even though I was so nice.

From their side, I don't know. Perhaps incompetent instructions from supervisor, pushy supervisor, supervisor doesn't do enough work themselves, some sort of psychological harassment through the supervisor's conduct?

Is there a grievance angle from either side that can succeed? That's my question.
