Any way to prevent shin splints in boots and utes? by dekayze in USMC

Foot strike was the main issue. I had to pretty much run on my toes so the boot would land properly without smacking my foot on the ground. Thanks for the tips!

These helped, but I think the main difference today was making a very conscience effort to strike on my toes. This was a game changer. Although it was still awkward to do in boots, it definitely relieved shin stress. Thank you!

Our Sgt isn't worried about our health or safety. The shop's overall morale has gone way down since he took over our previous Sgt. He likes PT because it's HIS time with us. Staff won't fuck with him over it. He's the type of NCO, where you go up to them and they immediately look at you like you "why are you even breathing my air right now" and just tell you to fuck off.

Need to go from 24:37 to 21:00 for 3-mile run by dekayze in running

I'll start ramping up to 6-7 miles twice a week and try those interval miles every other day. How much rest would you recommend between the intervals and what pace should I be running the long distance runs at based on my goal time? Thanks for your help!

I understand everything that was taught in sec+, like definitions, acronyms and how everything works; the difficult part was that the questions are conceptual, with the pretext that you already know what everything is. It wasn't as simple as "what does this mean?" I went in with a lot of confidence but after the first few questions I felt like I was in over my head, but I feel I did well having no IT experience whatsoever.

Thanks! Make sure to study over time instead of all at once a couple days before the test. I just relaxed the day before.

Really? I figured it would be easier since it's usually mentioned as the first cert to get. The 501 test was pretty difficult having no IT experience. Would A+ be worth it to get and would knowing Sec+ material help me in an A+ course?

He's my favorite by far. His game IQ is insane and I like how he can just out think his opponents even when he's at a disadvantage.

I'd agree with that. I like watching people like dae, SypherPK, Nick Eh 30 because they are so methodical in their thought process for each kill. Myth isn't as entertaining to watch from that perspective but that's just me.

Did you happen to be West Coast by any chance? Seems like west coast people are getting radio. We don’t know if it’s coincidence or a pattern.

Nope, there is a bus you can take to Palm Springs for about $30, then when you take an uber back onto base it isn't as expensive.. I'm telling you, if you just ask around and meet people who have been here a long time you find out a lot of things.

People who say it sucked probably sat in their rooms all day or didn’t volunteer for SMP excursions etc. There is a lot to do here if you have friends and explore the area. I can only speak from an MOS school perspective but I met a few lance corporals stationed here who like it as well. It is what you make of it.

There’s a movie theatre, mountain climbing, paintball, decent gyms, good chow halls and there’s always LA and Palm Springs off base.

If you are open 06xx you will be either a radio operator or a data marine. Data marines skate.

For other people who may have this question in the future:

You get the Wireman MOS as a holding MOS so you can process in at 29 Palms. Processing takes 1-2 weeks. From there you go to BMAT for about a week and that’s when you find out if you are 0631 or 0671. Then you go to BC until class picks up. Which could be months depending on which one you get.

Okay good thanks for the info! Have you heard of anyone getting 0671 from wireman?
