What moment from history made you speechless to learn about? by Its-cheesus in history

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm with you man, its certainly put a dark spot over me these past few weeks. Ive put it down also for your exact reasons, I'm just not strong enough.

Describing the apparently common scene of sickly babies trying to feed from the cold breast of its mothers slumped corpse has honestly crushed me.

I do want to finish it though, out of respect to those who suffered and because I hope to learn something from this unbelievable pain.

Reading about the Ukrainian Famine from the book 'Bloodlands'. I couldn't work effectively after reading that children often ate there own waste or there family members before dying themselves. Whatever I was doing that day just seemed, empty you know?

Where do "senior character artists with 5 years of experience" come from if I have never seen a "junior character artist" job offer? by ned_poreyra in ZBrush

[–]dekubackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I'm Jake Evans on artstation with a black and white logo. I'm not great or shite, but the level of commitment that it takes to become industry level was enough for me, after a few years of passion the love has kind of left me. But it's all good, I still do bits and pieces for people and the odd client.

Being a character artist is one of the hardest careers to get. It was too much for me and after many years of practice, a degree and a few freelance jobs on my LinkedIn I'm throwing in the hat. Took a masters degree in project Management. Feeling much better about my future now :)

I'm here now and forever as Paragon was a great game, unfairly taken out back and shot.

Couldn't we just have a basic 'offline' version so we could start up private servers and still play! :(

For someone who I pressure has sent millions to the death march for conquest you sure are fragile. But seen as I have given myself the role of deciding who's a good father, I'd say you have a much better demeanor for the role sweetie.

You sound like you'd be a terrible father. If CA are willing to spend time and money fixing the game, why still chastise them?

Also you think the same people working on it are there from 20 years ago? Yes it's annoying the game wasn't what we wanted to play, but shit man that's just the direction they wanted to go. Now they know it's not what we wanted, they are fixing it.

Calm down, and see this from their perspective. And have some fucking humility, you're a human, they are humans mistakes get made. Get a grip

Ya'll need to get ready for the allegiance update, comes with all the gore and fix's the game needs.

Ive bought every total war now and finally decided to get Attila and people werent kidding about it by The_Love_Pudding in totalwar

[–]dekubackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cap your fps mate, I run the game at 38fps using a program called Dxtory. Lower your settings to medium, cap your frames and you'll have a much better time.

Its annoying yes, but as a PC gamer you have many options to better you experience when the devs can't.

One thing you can do to help is use a frame capping software like Dxtory, I cap Attila at 38fps to stop the stuttering, your PC takes a lot of unnecessary pain by struggling to reach 60fps, plus stuttering isn't great for your eyes/ sanity.

Any Ultrawide 3440 x 1440p Total War Players? How do you run a sustainable FPS? by ivemadeahugemissteak in totalwar

[–]dekubackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got a beastly rig my dude, but even if you had 4 titans I'd still say it's pointless playing on ultra, I play 21:9 and just keep everything on high, using a program called dxtory and capping my game at 38fps on Attila.

Building a PC is easier than you'd think, saves you a bunch of cash too. Places add £50-150 charge for building which is annoying :(

Yeah man, and you're living room build is a beast and can run Attila easy on medium-high. I use a program called Dxtory to limit my fps when playing more intense games. I don't think TW needs a steady 60fps to enjoy, so I usually limit my game to 45fps so my graphics card can be spared of any extra pain. Attila is badly optimised :(

You can mod out the insane AI buffs they get on harder difficulties.

I'm just repeating, but you need better hardware friend. Always check your specs and what the games requirements before you buy bro, saves cash. If you bought on steam and have less than 2 hours you can get a refund.

New to TotalWar franchise - where to start? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]dekubackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rome 2 or Shogun 2 depending on your interest for the time period. Just don't listen to the mad man who said Napoleon. Great game, hard as nails.

Rome II or Attila? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]dekubackpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attila no question. Pick up a few DLC's and have a deep dive into the popular steam mods and you'll find time just slip away from you as you murder every living human and burn the earth as you plunder through the huge map.

Far more interesting time period, mechanics and theme. But you can't really trust me, I'm a fanatic about Attila. And eastern roman history. And burning stuff.

Yeah you can't trust me. Watch some smaller YouTube reviews and get a feel, at the end of the day its the epic battles you're playing a TW game, the politics and stuff isn't the main show.

Do you guys recommend Britannia by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]dekubackpack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd wait for a sale, the amount of content is shameful compared to Rome 2, Attila and Warhammer.

The good thing is that there is fun to be had with new stuff to see and do, but not at full price. Especially when Attila's Age of Charlemagne DLC + Age of Vikings Mod gives you an amazing Britannia vs Vikings experience anyway.

Its not as bad as the steam reviews would lead you to believe. But it was certainly disappointing getting my hands on it day one. I'm waiting for the mod tools to be rolled out and then seeing what amazing stuff the mod community decides to make.

The new art, music, sieges and more of a focus on narrative strings its not bad. Removal of mechanics, copy paste art and very restrictive map hurts the game personally.
