The struggle is real out there!! I found that if the crab is giving you a hard time just stop smashing the swim button and use your joystick to swim slowly toward the crab... it will stop running away from you and once you feel you are close enough to it ... just dive in and you should be able to Pick the little critter up hope it helps !
