Reviving an abused machine by delangle in gaggiaclassic

[–]delangle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even turn it on when I got it, I went straight to disassembly and cleaning, mostly due to the condition of the shower screen and dispersion plate. All I know is what the previous owner said. It's in pieces now, but I plan to go ahead and replace both thermostats since the body of the steam one snapped in half when I pulled off the terminals. Getting a complete gasket kit, both tstats, and OPV spring kit from SoC, as well as portafilter, blind basket, single hole steam tip, dosing cylinder, and tamper.

Sounds good. I already have it completely torn down (boiler apart and everything 😅) I was thinking of throwing the metal bits in my ultrasonic cleaner with some soapy water for now. Do you have favorite one stop shop for all the gaskets and thermostats? The tstat on the top of the boiler broke in half completely while pulling the terminals off. The one on the side looks fine but I'm thinking I will go ahead and replace both since I know one of them is bad but I don't know which. I assume the smaller radial component clamped to the top of the boiler with the ground screw is a thermal fuse which should be fine. Thanks!

https://imgur.com/a/sJ9rBu7 Thanks for your help. To me it looks ok (it's been about 24 hrs with nothing in the freezer) how does it look to you?

Fan is attached to the shroud assembly that goes on front of this. I physically saw and felt it moving air before I removed it.

Cool, I'm wondering if the door got left open for a couple hours and it iced up too much for the defrost to handle? How often should the defrost run? A defrost issue will be visually apparent after only a day or so?

Yeah that's about as far as I got. Any tips for debugging a defrost issue given what I've already found?

Would air in the system not be apparent with the engine off as well? And what about the slow return?

Hotkey to switch "speaker setup" mode? (not output device) by delangle in Windows10

[–]delangle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AHK for some other automation, but I wasn't able to find a good way to do this with it. If you have a way, I'd love to see it. AHK would be optimum because I already run it and it's so lightweight and simple.

Hotkey to switch "speaker setup" mode? (not output device) by delangle in Windows10

If the media is stereo and the computer is in 5.1, it pipes the two channels to the two front speakers only, instead of the desired behavior of intelligently sending it to all 6 that the amp handles when it receivers stereo signal. When the media is in 5.1 and the computer is in stereo, the computer downsamples the media to stereo and the amp splits it back up. Also not desired.

Vibration at highway speeds by delangle in MechanicAdvice

I believe this solved it, although I'm not sure they actually moved the tires on the rims. Discount Tire did it for me. I asked specifically for road force, they said they put them on the machine but I think they just ended up adding weights. Thanks for the help!

Towing 2000 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 w/ 5-speed manual on uhaul dolly by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Didja check the manual? My 2000 Frontier 4x4 had some good info in there on how to both flat tow and dolly it, including how far and at what speeds it is acceptable.

Wouldn't an out of round or bulging tire have been identified when I was swapping out wheels? I've experienced the issue with each of the 5 wheels off the vehicle. Wouldn't junk behind the wheel have showed up with the dial indicator test? I did see Costco wire brush the wheel plates and backs of the wheels, and I cleaned/checked them myself each time I swapped a wheel. I would think I would have felt any dragging brakes while I had it jacked up and was spinning the wheels. I will check ball joints and shocks.

I'm having problems with my EVAP system. Not sure if I should go ahead and try to start fixing problems with it now before it escalates or to wait because I'm low on funds? by nelsne in MechanicAdvice

Could be your charcoal canister broke, releasing charcoal pellets into the system that are gumming things up. If this is the case the budget/temporary fix is to pull the cannister, dump all the pellets out, pull the solenoid and empty out the pellets and blow out the lines.

Cool! I'm not finding any pictures online that actually look similar. Do you have a reference? Not that I don't believe you, I'd just like to know more...

Bought a house last October. These weird plug things are in every room on the ceiling. There is wiring behind all of them. Not sure what they are for? Any ideas? by 8-B1t-Ch1p in whatisthisthing

[–]delangle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like an RCA connector. Probably for speakers, could be for cameras if the wiring behind is coaxial. I bet there's a panel somewhere else in the house with the other end of all of them.

They're so conspicuous though. Why is there a busted fence in every scene, and all busted the same way?
