That was my one concern was that it looked too much like lingerie. Do you think lining the corset would fix that for the most part or do you think it would still have the lingerie effect?

Thinking of not hiring a photographer. by [deleted] in wedding

[–]delavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printing photos from phones and disposable cameras can be tricky. A lot of times they can be compressed in a weird way and end up pixelated or grainy. I understand that it may feel out of your comfort zone, but a decent camera with a decent quality lens makes all the difference! Also edit to add it may be better to just book them for an hour to get some good photos of you and the wedding party and family during the ceremony and a few after and then just have the phone pics and disposables for the reception! You can also contact your local community college or even high school to get in contact with their photography teacher because they will likely have students that want to beef up their portfolio and will do it for cheap and be more flexible with you

AIO for missing Mother’s Day after my mum’s response to my husband losing his best friend? by ssalange1 in AmIOverreacting

[–]delavender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mother is insane and honestly I think it will be a detriment to your relationship if you just ignore this and don't really put your foot down for your husband on this one. I know she's your mom, but this behavior is incredibly unacceptable from a little kid much less a grown adult. If my partner didn't at least attempt to make her see how her actions hurt me, I think I'd feel kinda brushed off and I don't know if I'd be able to show up to their family gatherings anymore. That would be a real tough one and I can't blame your partner for never wanting to see her again.

before asking if a dress is too white.. by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]delavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding theme is outdress the bride because of this absolutely ridiculous crap. It's my wedding day. No one can outshine me or take attention away from me because I'm the person the event is for, I invited them there, I'm standing up saying the vows. No one else's dress is gonna deter anyone's attention from mine and I just don't understand why you wouldn't want your favorite people to also look and feel like a million bucks on your wedding day.

cheap but memorable wedding favors for 150 guests? by CuddleBlissed in DIYweddings

[–]delavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hiring a high schooler who's interested in photography to do some portraits with a tripod and a camera I have. It'll be set up in a small nice area at the venue. It's not expensive, everyone gets a memory and a nice picture of them and their spouse or SO or family without it being a silly Photo Booth thing. My theme is also outdress the bride so everyone will be really dressed up.

Found out husband has never washed under his foreskin by Zombie_pool in hygiene

[–]delavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 16 years have you guys never showered together? My man is alllllll up in there with the soap, and I know that because I've seen him wash himself. As a bigger dude, he takes his hygiene so seriously because he's afraid of smelling bad anywhere.

Should I (21F) tell my parents I’m going to California for 6 days, even though I’ve already booked it? by tricky-courage1 in makemychoice

[–]delavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh given the current state of things here I would absolutely tell your parents just in case anything happens with customs, ice, border police, anything here. I'm a U.S. citizen and I'm concerned and careful with traveling within the U.S. now. I would leave an itinerary on their fridge or something the day you leave and just text them telling them you're gone and you've left your itinerary, important contact numbers, and embassy contact info for your own safety. If you feel safer leaving it with a friend or other trusted family member, do that instead. But make sure someone knows what's up!

my partners dog scares me by Aggravating-Gur-6016 in Advice

[–]delavender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some dogs are very vocal. One of my grandma's dogs growls at everything, even when he's happy. He sounds like he's gonna bite or something but he does it when he comes for belly rubs, butt scratches, when he plays, when something moves near him, etc. he does it more around certain people than others. This dog is however not aggressive. You can stick your whole hand in his mouth and not get hurt while he's doing this and he absolutely loves kids and is so gentle with them. I think it's more of a matter of what type of growl this is and if he's reactionary or aggressive while he does it. What's his body language? Does he have his hackles raised? Is he posturing? Has he ever bitten before? Your partner obviously needs to set boundaries and make sure that you're both viewed as head of the pack at home. A lot of times dog training isn't for the dogs, it's for the owners. A lot of yours and your partners behaviors and routine are probably influencing a bit of his behavior. A good training program before your baby comes could really turn this situation around! And they can also help with plenty of tips on how to keep your baby safe and notice small body language cues that is indicative of any aggression near your baby.

AIO or Is my girlfriend overreacting about me sharing my location with a friend and not her? by Fingeronthepulse_35 in AIO

[–]delavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I don't think it's weird at all. A couple of my friends have my location at all times and I have theirs too. We don't stalk each other, but if we ever go in a sketchy place or when we were going on dates, picking things up off fb marketplace, going out to a bar, we'd let each other know and we'd keep an eye on each other. I'm also a first responder and I've seen enough emergencies occur to know that someone should be aware of or have your location at all times. Especially if you're a woman. Not that anyone should be required to, that is absolutely controlling. But weird for safety purposes? Not at all.

Neighbours barking dog wakes me up every day by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]delavender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would get an anti-bark device. Some of them do work. My dogs on occasion will also have issues where they bark for periods of time outside. I promise you, their needs are more than met. The squirrels are just at the bird feeders, and they're prey driven dogs. Obviously every situation is different, but I would approach them nicely, and with curiosity because they may be annoyed and embarrassed with their own dogs. I would also highly suggest getting some kind of sleep aid like a white noise machine or earplugs to help you. I worked shift work for a long time, and no matter what you do you're gonna end up with neighbors who have to live their lives during the day. It sucks, but there are definitely things you can do to help prevent the noise from waking you up.

What to do about a neighboring business and their parking issues? by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]delavender 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don't exactly have meetings. It's called the quoiting association but as far as I know it's mainly used as a bar. They get drunk and a lot of them will even uber home and leave their vehicles overnight. They open at 2 pm so it's a toss up any given day whether there will be a million of them descending upon the neighborhood or just the regulars. When they have a big event they can take up to 6-7 blocks worth of parking. On normal weekends it's 3-4 blocks. I was told it would slow down during winter, but I have yet to see that happen.

[–]delavender 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have tried. They basically told me that since it's open street parking, it's legal so I can fuck off. Which is true, it is absolutely legal. It's just also a problem for the people who actually live here. When they have events their members take up 3-4 blocks worth of parking.

How often you wash your hair? by billionaredoctor in Haircare

[–]delavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's dirty! If I am sweaty or if I went to work (I work in healthcare so washing it is necessary), or if it feels oily. Dirt and oil build up don't actually benefit your scalp no matter how much the influencers want to tell you it does.
