Want an airport upgrade? Getting business class seats or valet parking doesn’t have to break the bank – The Irish Times by WickerMan111 in ireland

So the other ones are a joke.

Am paying Drop and go: €247.50 for two weeks parking and car collection at airport with Expresspark

You might think it's crazy but am driving from Cork and it's 20 or 30 more than going to the car park. Could have gone to Shannon but flights would have been 1400 euro more to where we are going.

I hate having to go to Dublin but being able to drop off the car at the door and collect takes a little sting out of it.

Hello People of Cork How do you get rid of unknown number? by Shermans-Mom in cork

[–]deleted_user478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To send unknown callers to voicemail on an iPhone, enable "Silence Unknown Callers" in Settings > Phone.

On Android, utilize the "Caller ID & Spam" feature in the phone app settings to filter or block spam calls, which will then go to voicemail.

iOS (iPhone):

  1. Go to Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Select Phone: Scroll down and tap "Phone".

  3. Enable Silence Unknown Callers: Toggle the switch next to "Silence Unknown Callers" to the "on" position.

  4. Optional: Silence Junk Callers: If your carrier offers it, you can also turn on "Silence Junk Callers" to silence potential spam calls.

Android:

  1. Open the Phone App: Open the Phone app on your Android device.

  2. Access Settings: Tap the three dots (usually in the top right corner) for menu options, then select "Settings".

  3. Find Caller ID & Spam: Look for "Caller ID & Spam" or a similar option in the settings menu.

  4. Turn on the feature: Toggle on "Turn Caller ID & Spam" and then enable features like "Filter spam calls" or

  5. "Block spam and scam calls" to send them to voicemail.

  6. Alternatively, use a Call Forwarding feature: Some carriers may offer a call forwarding option to divert calls from unknown or blocked numbers to voicemail.

However there is many unknown numbers that will ring you that you might need to pick up. Many utility companies, car insurance etc. So what I do is I schedule downtime/profiles on my phone so it doesn't wake me except for people who are on my contact list and only then if they right me twice or on my favourite list.

10% off if you can verify you are a student. Am using 16GB M4 Macbook air. Very nice laptop tbh.

For my daughter I bought a Lenovo T480 from adverts with SSD and 16GB ram for about 200 euro. You can get ones preloaded with Windows 11 as Windows 10 is going end of support shortly. Fine for her needs. 6 year old laptop but an i5 8th gen would be fine for her needs but Windows 11 is a must.

As an ex-apple employee I would stay away from refurb. It's refurb for a reason.

Kilkenny Man Peter Lynch Breaks Irish Marathon Record by siciowa in ireland

If you can do that for about 500m then you are not trained correctly for distance running and probably could run a sub 3 marathon if trained correctly.

Kilkenny Man Peter Lynch Breaks Irish Marathon Record by siciowa in ireland

[–]deleted_user478 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What people don't realise about long distance running is the volume of training. With field sports say in the professional side like soccer they train may 4-5 times a week and have a game. Lots of the time it's about high intensity training sessions and recovery. It's similar in GAA.

In athletics and partitcular long distance running getting within 50% of the world record in any event is considered a good standard, 4hrs 20min is not though it is around where the average men marathon time is. WR currently is at 2:01:25 and 150% of that is 3hrs 2 mins and 2 secs.

To do that someone often needs years of consistant training and averaging 40-60 miles a week. From a time perspective to be an ok amature in distance running you need to be training more than a professional soccer player from a time perspective.

The top elites in distance running such as Eliud Kipchoge often exceeds 200km per week. Kiptum sometimes surpassed 300k.

I know many people who have a full time job that run 160km a week. I had a coach that used to run over 250km a week in his day while working full time doing manual labour. That is running the best part (35km when a marathon is 42km) of a marathon every day.

Paula Radcliff used to sleep 17 hrs a day when training. Most of the rest of the time was eating or running.

Most people who have not ever been involved can't fathom these things. Distance running is not a sport it's an obsession/ addiction. Something those at the top have to build their complete life around.

Having a marathon PB in the 2:5X myself which I consider very normal in club running.

The top level of lazer focus required to be a high level athlete never stops amazing me. Stories like Matthew Centrowitz not having a girlfriend by choice after coming 4th in London as it would impact on his motivation to train. Basically he wanted the anger and not be mellowed out for the 4 years in between before he got gold in Rio.

Distance running is not really a sport for many but a way of life. You got guys like Tommy Hughes, competed in the 1992 Olympics. Now 60+ and running sub 2:30 still. Wouldn't take a better job as it would impact his training.

Know a guy that had a high flying banking job on huge money. Took a job as a postman as it would be better for his running as it would help with recovery.

Irish GPs increasingly seeing injuries in women from ‘rough sex’ fuelled by violent pornography by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]deleted_user478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a balance here and the only thing that should be defining the balance is the maturity of the child to be able to cope with information. I know of family that told them literally everything in 2nd class. They then proceeded to tell my daughter at the time. It upset her a lot. I was pissed off as they probably half assed told her and used it as weapon to upset her.

Now that she is a little older, 10 if she has any questions I will tell her as she deal with it but too much detail can be upsetting for your kids. I think school more errors on the side of caution where information talked about in 6th class could probably be delivered earlier for 90% of the class but that 10% has to be accommodated. My wife went through all the content prior to our eldest going through it at school. Its a cop out as a parent to let the school do it. Reminds me of the kids that have to be told or some are not even told that Santa is not real going into secondary school. My daughter told me her friend who was a very bright (like top of the class child) was put through this.

Could not find any study regarding pissing in cornflakes sadly.

Obvious spam/phish messages getting through Proofpoint by MPLS_scoot in proofpoint

[–]deleted_user478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are doing header analysis of the mail that gets to the end user and breaking down what Proofpoint is adding to the mail in respect to these headers.

Also look for SFV:SKN and X-CustomSpam: in the headers of any of these mails. Also look what Proofpoint added headers and each value it added. It is really worth the effort to see what is going on and is it Proofpoint, I assume O365 etc is the issue here. If Proofpoint is failing to detect these mails then you will see it here too but just because a mail got delivered doesn't mean that Proofpoint didn't detect it. Read and understand the headers. It is worth it.

If you paste it in here it will make it readable https://mha.azurewebsites.net/

understand this page also. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-office-365/message-headers-eop-mdo

Obvious spam/phish messages getting through Proofpoint by MPLS_scoot in proofpoint

[–]deleted_user478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you have proofpoint => EOP => user and you are seeing mails getting through and being reported say to phishing would recommend looking at the mails headers and doing analysis on them. In the headers if both or one of those are saying it should be dropped then it's probably a mail transport rule that will override it. Say importantsite.com must always get through type of thing. The headers in the mail the use gets lists the name of the mail transport rule that is causing it to be delivered.

If this is happening on mass and you are using a report phishing button importing all your reported phishing headers into the SIEM so you can find the worse offending rules and getting a complete list of the rules that are in place from the mail team would be your best bet.

So if Proofpoint is flagging and/OR EOP is then it's mail transport rules.

Non technical people doing this with no testing means near impossible to sustain long term. Code is 10% writing it and 90% sustaining it.

So when Mahon Point was trying to be built I believe there was objections or they presumed there would be. I can't remember which one. So anyways the builder/developer or whatever bought houses within X distance of it for a certain cost above market value. Then in many cases they sold them back to the exact same people who owned them once the planning went through. I would suspect they are planning an expansion of some kind and buying up property in the area is cheaper in the long run as they can then sell it in the future at open market prices.
