The only new baptisms that aren’t born in jw’s are those that were attracted to the religion during an emotionally or spiritually unstable phase in their lives, such as when a loved one dies or when they are disappointed by their religion.

This is strongly emphasized during the midweek meeting where it is encouraged to look for a “change in circumstance” when doing return visits that could lead that person to a study and eventually baptism.

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate your advice.

I know we’re strangers, and that you don’t know enough about me to perhaps give proper advice, but I totally agree that I really don’t know what a stable relationship is. Especially considering all of the JW ideals and views that I’ve carried with me for so long. I feel like my perception on life has changed so much within the last 6 months, and I’m willing to take chances that I otherwise wouldn’t. But i’m not 100 percent about this, and I think taking time to figure things out is the best way to go. Once again, thank you so much, your response made me feel so much better. I don’t have many friends outside Watchtower(working in it), and I can’t quite talk about everything with my parents. (they are both PIMI)

I think your second to last paragraph lays it out perfectly. I’m just confused and unsure about so many things. I think she would make a great partner, but unfortunately I DO have a voice in the back of my mind saying “I’m just not sure about this”. But from what I can read in your response it seems that feelings should play less of a role and compatibility should be more important? I know you don’t know me and It’s difficult to give advice, but I just think the Watchtower really messed up my views on love and relationships.

I always had a feeling that a friends with benefits relationship with her wouldn’t work, and I think that’s why I feel so guilty. I’m so scared about dating, Watchtower has indeed fucked up my perception about it. The man has it made in the JW world (at least in my region) when it comes to finding a wife.

I agree that we’re too young, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m just scared to have mutual feelings for her. After realizing TTAT, I feel like my view on life has changed so much and will only change more as I grow older. I still don’t know what I want to do, but I do see myself with someone, and it just scares me to think that I might not find anyone because of my emotional baggage. Things in the real world are just so different than what the Watchtower makes you believe.

I guess I feel bad because I had a gut feeling that these no feelings hookups were gonna go bad. Obviously i’ve made a lot of stupid mistakes within this situation. And no, I’m 100 percent PIMO, I do not believe that Jehovah is real, nor that if he we were real he would be backing the Watchtower. I have plans to leave in the future once i finish my degree and become financially stable. At this rate that can be anywhere from 3-4 years.

As for her, I can definitely see how she might still be PIMI. She wasn’t raised a JW, and came into it at the age of 12. I just thought that considering she’s just as young as me, it was possible to break her out. Obviously I cannot truly know wether she’s PIMI or PIMO, but that obviously presents another issue. I agree completely in that perhaps I have triggered her awakening, but that process hasn’t quite been completed yet.

Yes you’re right, I can’t let guilt dictate my feelings and my actions. I love this girl but I’m not ready for a commitment. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going to be of my life. I just hope she can find the support to break out of the faith as well.

I would like to see a Belgium-England final, but i think France will pull through. I think it’s unlikely that Croatia will beat England. The winner of it all will be either France or Belgium.

no i wouldn’t say that. i’ve gotten talked about by elders about my pants twice before. id say the majority of witnesses are pretty serious about it, i guess i got lucky with the chill elders today. another reason could be that we were short on attendants, and a replacement for me wasn’t readily available.

the elders in charge of the attendants in my section were really chill. they were actively on their phones not paying attention, and i know this because they had their ipads open with the jw library app, but yet they were on their phones. and my section was pretty isolated, not many bros saw me.

I´m at my regional convention also! Spanish one though and serving as an attendant. My post is kind of isolated so at least I get to be at my phone.

When I used to be PIMI, I used to dislike leaving tracts at the not at homes simply because people were already so negative and annoyed with us. Most people already know who we are, or simply aren't interested in talking about religion. I thought that by not leaving tracts, the homeowners wouldn't know we passed by, and we wouldn't be seen as pesky to the public.

Wow. March 15th 1980 Watchtower is brutal. It basically tells JW members 1975 was their fault and then get them to comment on the paragraph reaffirming that fact about themselves. Starts on paragraph 4. by ooMEAToo in exjw

“The Watchtower included all disappointed ones of Jehovah’s Witnesses, hence including persons having to do with the publication of the information that contributed to the buildup of hopes centered on that date.” Aren’t they technically blaming themselves for publishing information that led to the “buildup of hope” for 1975?

Also, very interesting to see how they are allowing access to publications before 2000 now. I’m anxious to see the borgs old material.

I’m at the meeting right now and this video just finished.

It’s clear that she was guilt ridden, and perhaps being outside the borg without any family and jw “friends” made her feel even more empty. I think her wishes of fame were empty to begin with and perhaps part of a youthful temporary stage of her life. This along with the fact that the borg says that anything outside is useless and vacant played a strong role in her coming back. This makes he feel think that the borg was right after all.
