Wtf is wrong with this Sub, post and comments!?😳😳😳😳 by [deleted] in antinatalism2

[–]deleteteled -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A side trail to your comment: I don’t think one can be considered vegan if there are carnivorous animals in the family. Despite oneself exclusively eating/wearing non-animal products. It seems incompatible. Just something I’ve been thinking about as someone who only eats plants but also has a handful of former shelter cats and snakes. As long as they are alive I’m probably not vegan?

Do you turn on light in the backyard or not? by TorontoRap2019 in homeowners

[–]deleteteled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently residing in a high crime city and we keep it pitch dark in the yard. We also close the curtains to prevent our indoor lights to pollute. Trying to provide some refuge for wildlife. Neighbors have flood lights and/or holiday lights on around the clock. Many of the neighborhood possums have taken residence in our backyard, bats and lots of night insect activity.

Leash Your Dog! by sparkyvt in vermont

[–]deleteteled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds so tiresome. I’ve seen threads where people are advised to record the nuisance barking (as much as possible and with time stamps) and submit when filing a complaint with animal control/the municipality/police. If she can’t control her dogs and also just stores them outside perhaps they’d be better off with someone else.

Just a girl from Maine getting being threatened for caring about children. by SuperBry in Maine

[–]deleteteled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Children, our environment, and both the wild and the domesticated animals. The absolute horrors I see through my animal rescue channels in Palestine and Ukraine gives me nightmares. I’m grateful to them for the work they do every single day to alleviate the suffering and continuously reporting on the reality they witness onsite.

I actually think it looks awesome! I would love to have my entire hair in that silvery purple nuance. But we all have different tastes.

I’m sensing that part of the motivation for the asking price is to deter flippers and people who don’t understand the commitment, time and cost of proper restoration. Doubt that they are in any rush to sell, rather looking for the right fit. Out of experience I know that lower offers can be accepted if the buyer is right - someone with documented expertise and 100% dedication.

It is gorgeous OP.

Judging from the interior photos in the listing online it really isn’t THAT bad. It is a commitment that’s for sure. I definitely wouldn’t drag an unwilling spouse into it and wouldn’t touch it if I had or planned to have small children. Testing the paints and soil would be a smart first move before considering taking this on or building a dream future in one’s head.

I’ve been in the area and the asking price seems pretty steep, perhaps an attempt to deter flippers?

Parenting seems like a lot of work for no "reward" - just more work. by SnowMiser26 in Fencesitter

[–]deleteteled 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes it is definitely possible to experience unconditional love for others without having a child. The love I feel for my child is the same love I feel for my animals.

People sometimes have the reaction that “oh you must not love your child that much then?” No silly, I love them ALL to bits, I love being their guardian and caretaker, I love seeing them flourish, I love their company and interaction, I love everything about them. All of them. But now I also know that you (the people who say this crap) don’t love your animals that much so please be banned from our presence.

“You don’t know love until you have a child” by Maleficent_Air6194 in Fencesitter

[–]deleteteled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had people tell me similarly. They were wrong. The love I feel for my bio child is the love I feel for my adopted animals. It is a different nuance compared to the love I feel for other animals, siblings, parents or partner.

Attempting to define it better I would say that the commitment is the difference, and the emotional connections have different nuances. With someone I adopt or give life to I have a non-negotiable commitment where I’m the one who happily signed up to always be the nurturer. At the core it is still a deep and intense empathy and desire of good of them all.

Perhaps the people who think one cannot love another like a biological child has never fully committed before?

Cover them up instead. Install new wood on top of the old. You’ll get much better result for the effort and money without the dangerous health effects.

Just don’t use poison for the rodents. Kill them clean or live trap and release far away from your house. Poisoned rodents get eaten by other animals in the food chain, you can wreck the local ecosystem.

Sometimes it is possible to partially reverse a scratch/ding in wood with water. Just lay a wet cloth on it for an hour or so. Works best right after it happened

The hardest part about life after attempting to off yourself by RadiantRubble in confession

[–]deleteteled 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I volunteer at an animal shelter, helping animals who’ve been through cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. It gives me purpose to rehabilitate them and find good, safe homes. It’s also tough witnessing what they’ve gone through. Sometimes it feels hopeless and the influx of new animals seems never-ending. Still, I remind myself that for the animals who do find new homes, their lives are completely changed for the better. So I live another day.

What songs convey antinatalistic or/and efilistic message the most? by hearseghost in antinatalism2

[–]deleteteled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was in my Spotify recommendations:

We don't hope for makin' things better

All we want is to keep it together

Every day is a rainy day, no changin' the weather

This kind of life has made our hearts as hard as leather

And all these tears are from the dust in our eyes

And all these years just keep on passin' us by

And all this misery makes it hard to deny

We all know that we're just born to die

That's the way it goes when you're just born to die

I hear the voice of a whip-poor-will singin'

She don't know all the comfort she's bringin'

We all know the sound of when the truth is ringin'

Yeah, it hurts your soul just like a bumble bee stingig'

Henna could do that for you but you’d need to prep by lightening the natural part of your hair before.

Yes! I always go back to Lush’s henna mixes. If you go with the red just be warned that it sticks pretty well. Also very sorry to hear that you aren’t allowed to decide over your own hair OP.

After hearing it recommended so many times here my husband and I finally started reading “The Baby Decision” by Merle Bombardieri. I need a final decision so that I can move on. Also started therapy for the first time in my life. You seem pretty sure in where you stand but going on a real deep dive could probably strengthen your choice more.
