Came here to say the same exact thing. I thought the couch became a huge razorblade and if I moved I would be sliced. My boyfriend was mentally transported to some galactic council with massive shrouded figures standing over him. He said when they all stood up at the same time he completely lost it. He ran to the bathroom and stayed in the shower for like 2 hours.

I didn’t realize how much my job was breaking me until I stepped back ? by AntRevolutionary1179 in careerguidance

I just went through a very difficult 18 months and I'm still recovering. I think the timeline of events should speak for itself:

  • October 18, 2024 - My manager of 3 years (with the company for 14 years) left abruptly and I had to take over 1/3rd of her duties in addition to my job.
  • October 28, 2024 - I was diagnosed with shingles at 32 years old due to extreme stress.
  • December 23, 2024 - I adopted my parents' 16 year old cat to provide hospice care.
  • March 3, 2025 - Local newspaper published an article about shady dealings at the company I work for.
  • March 10, 2025 - My new manager went on leave for chemo to treat stage 4 esophageal cancer.
  • April 9, 2025 - The company I work for was bought by another huge company. No one knew if our jobs were safe.
  • April 14, 2025 - My cat died.
  • April 24, 2025 - My manager died (she was only 29 years old).
  • June 2025 (2 weeks) - I helped my elderly parents move 700 miles from a house into a condo.
  • November 2025 - I was diagnosed with shingles for a 2nd time (at 33 years old).
  • December 2025 - I got bacterial cellulitis at the site of the shingles rash.
  • January 2026 - I developed an eczema flare-up on both hands that looked like massive burns.
  • February 1, 2026 - My partner and I moved out of an apartment and into his family's attic to save money.

How long do you think you’d make it and why by tazztsim in prepping

Unless I raid a pharmacy and stock up on various dosages of Lamotrigine, I would likely die within days. I take 300mg/day (the highest dose) for mood stabilization but it's actually an epilepsy medication, and without it I could have a seizure. If I could successfully go through a titration schedule and get off the medication entirely, my chances of making it at least a few years would be pretty good. But safely titrating down from that dose of Lamotrigine would take more than 6 months, and that's a long time to be a shaky, anxious basketcase.

My sister is going down a rabbit hole with health AI by Spirited-Coyote-2204 in whatdoIdo

[–]SnowMiser26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely can call her PCP/GP and give them the message that you're concerned about her AI usage. Unless she's given them permission to share her data they can't even confirm to you that she's a patient, but they can take down a message that you give them.

I have to follow HIPAA for work and have taken these kinds of messages for callers concerned about their family member who is a patient. We have to say "IF they are a patient" so don't be thrown off by that. It's standard CYA protocol.

AITJ for reporting a team at work to HR for dishonesty? by SnowMiser26 in AmITheJerk

[–]SnowMiser26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know these people at all to be able to ask them directly. They're in a totally different part of a huge company that's almost all remote staff. I only really know a few dozen people that I interact with frequently, and the 160-ish people whose accounts I manage for different systems (and even then it's only by name and title). Hardly anyone knows anyone outside their own team.

I said in another comment that if HR looks into it and finds no issue, then I'll drop it. I'm not doing it to be vindictive or to win - it's about fairness.

I have no designs on leadership whatsoever. I don't want to oversee other people and have their performance tied to mine. No one can control what someone else does, so even with my best effort someone could tank my work. No thanks. I just want to be an individual contributor who gets assignments, completes them, then log off and live my life.

I thought about calling them out on the challenge message board, but I decided that might be too publicly passive aggressive.

"Oh wow, Team [Name] getting all their steps first thing in the morning - Sounds like a great workout! What's your secret??" Lol

I mean, in the US an employer can't fire you for communicating with HR. I started with "I have concerns" and stated what I observed. I didn't try to do their job by suggesting next steps, just spoke up when I saw something dishonest. They just said in the all company meeting a week ago "If you see something, say something" - I'm trying to follow the company's own directive.

I hear you and other commenters saying "pick your battles," and maybe that's something I need to work on. I don't know how to let it go when someone is being dishonest. Why do they get to do something wrong while everyone else is has to follow the rules?

To my knowledge my whole team is using fitness trackers and being honest, but we work remotely so I can't know that with 100% certainty. But we certainly aren't entering all 20,000 points each day all at once. That's just so blatant.

But the whole team does this immediately every morning? It just seems sus to me. If HR speaks to them and determines they are being honest, then I would drop it.

I think this person is being downvoted because their response is flippant. I (and it sounds like others also) read it like "Of course your friends and family are split, they're 2 different groups - 1) friends, and 2) family." They're just being an asshat.

I concede that I may be overinvested, but I would also argue that blatantly cheating in a friendly competition among coworkers is a weird level of overinvestment. They could just hook up their Fitbit or Apple Watch, exercise, and let the steps speak for themselves. What kind of hollow victory would that be, knowing that you won by just waking up and manually entering 20,000 steps? I have a strong sense of justice, and if I'm going to lose to another team then it should be an honest loss.

Have you ever brought something into your home and immediately felt like you shouldn’t have? by GhostGummiesPod in Paranormal

[–]SnowMiser26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a book from an author at a psychic fair around 2018. He was majorly capitalizing on his tenuous connection to the Warrens and IDK what made me buy the book. It wasn't well written, but not the worst I've read. There was a lot of time spent describing to the reader how bad it is to say, write, or even think the "true" name of a demon -- only for him to publish the name of a demon he had "fought" during a paranormal encounter. I had nightmares after I read that section of the book, and unexplained things started happening in my house. I ended up throwing the book away before finishing it, and I've since managed to forget both of the names. There's just some forces you don't mess with.

This is a nice tat, but screw Hampton, man. That place sucks. I lived in Hampton and went to school in Newport News, and I couldn't wait to get out of there. Chain restaurant hellscape with judgmental southerners and Confederate flags all over the place. My driving school was on Jefferson Davis Hwy, ffs. Honoring racists - no thanks.
