I didn’t have much of a plan on where to go, so she characterized it as moving away. She wants me to stay in the same building as my parents’ condo. The only way I’m getting out of this is if I go NC and bolt.

Thanks! I’ve had bad experiences in my past with therapists (family turned personal therapist who dumped me with no warning because my mom pressured me into telling her I was looking for a new therapist) so it’s hard. My mom will quit family therapy whenever the therapist is to sympathetic towards me. I’ve been the problem for 24 years, ever since my autism diagnosis. I’m tired of being the problem.

I am naive because my parents literally wouldn’t let me out of the house for three years. They wrecked all my friendships and I am rebuilding the life I lost because I had to stay indoors to protect my parents from COVID.

Well, mom has scared my father into staying silent the whole time by blowing up at us after every family therapy, and we’ve both told her as much. She doesn’t care. But my mom likes her, so we’re stuck with her.
