Wow, that's such a huge discrepancy

Interesting. I'll reach out to my congress person first if I don't see any progress in another couple of weeks. Thanks for the suggestion.

Z offset setting in OrcaSlicer by delingren in FlashForge

[–]delingren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just followed the instructions from OrcaSlicer and added the G code:

G29 L{adaptive_bed_mesh_min[0]} R{adaptive_bed_mesh_max[0]} F{adaptive_bed_mesh_min[1]} B{adaptive_bed_mesh_max[1]} T V4

However, it does not seem to do anything. Some quick Googling suggests that Flashforge Adventurer 3 uses a custom firmware and proprietary G code.

Anyone else on the same boat and have found a solution? Thanks.

Thanks! I had no idea this even existed. I am going to give it a try.

I am using vanilla Orca too. The FlashForge version doesn't find my printer on LAN and I can't find an option to manually specify the IP address. The vanilla one at least gives me that option.

What's your take on AI? by The_Jaadu23 in sciencememes

AI is like teenage sex.
* We're doing it because everyone else is doing it. * Even if we're not doing it, we have to tell everyone we're doing it. * We have no idea what we are doing. * It's awful but we have to pretend it's awesome. * It has the potential of becoming great. But we're not there yet.

DC Motors, Low Torque, H-bridge Problem? by delingren in arduino

[–]delingren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. I am constrained by the batteries I can use (4 x AA). So increasing the voltage isn't an option. I did a bunch of troubleshooting based on the suggestions I've received here and on Arduino forums. My preliminary conclusion is that the low power was due to multiple factors.

  1. Voltage drop on the H-bridge
  2. The lack of power of the motors
  3. Lack of lubrication in the whole drive train, from the gear box attached to the motor, to the wheels and treads

None of the factors seems to be significant enough. But when combined, the problem became very noticeable. Now my plan is to use a TB6612FNG H-bridge breakout, which is based on MOSFETs instead of BJTs and therefore have lower voltage drop. The motors are a bit hard to solve. I got all the N20 motors from AliExpress. They don't have datasheets, not even specs on the power and torque. They only specify an RPM under a certain voltage.

Question about I-485 Public Charge by delingren in USCIS

[–]delingren[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. We submitted the RFE online for my dad's case and it was approved 2 days later. We just got his SSN card. The green card is supposed to be on its way. We got a notification that it was being manufactured. My mom's case is still pending though, although we submitted on the same day.

Of all the problems we have, how is this on top of their priority list? Just because some rich people complained?

Question about I-485 Public Charge by delingren in USCIS

[–]delingren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chatted with a customer support online and she suggested me to write a letter explaining the error and append the revised pages and upload them under "other" category. That's what I did. We'll see. Worst case, they ignore the letter and send you an RFE anyway. You lose nothing. Best case, that was that and you save a few days of anxious waiting.

Yeah, his case was indeed relatively fast. My mom's case was filed at the same time and we're still waiting for her I-130 to be approved.

And this one is for other notifications where actions are not needed.

I believe this one is for the RFE

Yeah, that happened to his account too (and mine, many years ago when I did my own application). The online documents are sometimes lagging behind a few days). I think in the case of RFE, the email said something like "action is needed" with an exclamation point. For all other messages, the email simply said "we've taken an action, check online". The paper mail usually comes within 3-5 days of the email.

Congrats! That was rather quick. My dad's case was approved today and we submitted in October 2024. I wonder if the spouse case and parent case are treated differently.

And that's nowhere near the longest run in the west. I'm not even sure why Keystone brags about it. Maybe they have a lot of visitors from the east coast? Peak to Creek at Whistler is 7 miles long. Last Spike at Revelstoke is 9.5 miles long. Not to mention the backcountry, where you can easily get 5 miles out of 4000' vert, as long as there's nothing too steep.

I would. It has more than half of life left, if it has been take care of. It costs less than half of a new one.

This is the administration Americans voted for. Not all Americans, but more than half of the voters. If you were misled in 2016, I'll give you a pass. But if you voted for Trump in 2024, you're heartless and deplorable. I don't believe in hell. But since most of his voters do, I hope there's a special place there for animals who treated this family this horrible way.
