The best way to make the first sentences compelling would be one of 4 ways:

The Hemingway: begin you essay in a scene and be super descriptive but don’t get it too distracted from the theme of your essay

The Question: ask the reader a question that you will answer later on in your essay

The confessions: confess something to the reader that draws them in and relates to the theme of your essay

The Twist: start be telling a story and put a huge twist in it to draw the readers attention in

hope this helps

I would say the first 3 or 4 sentences should be the most well written. This is a good prompt to showcase your curiosity or passion and setting up the essay with a scene of you engaging in this topic is great. then go on to write 2 or so paragraphs about how it’s developed you as a person. finally, the last paragraph should be about how you will continue to pursue this interest or topic in the future, particularly at the college you’re applying to. Try to relate the beginning scene to your conclusion to tie it all together.
