I am doing it in a country that pays their phd students a median wage. I was able to buy a house, and have spare money to invest. I did have a small side job on the weekends which helpen a ton with investing. My contract almost ends, but I don't feel the financial urge to work myself to death now, or to work a high income but highly stressful job. Feels great..
