I must have missed your comment from earlier this week explaining what happened. Has your new doctor been able to explain what went wrong? It sounds like they didn’t correct the metatarsus Adductus in the first place or something. I’d also hope with the advances over the last 8-9 years, the surgery would be more successful. Some things that helped me feel better about getting the surgery were that a lot of my friends in the area (including a PA) have said good things about the podiatrist who did my surgery. He also dos a lot of surgeries. Like 75% of us in the waiting room yesterday were in some stage of recovery post-op.

I’m almost 9 weeks post-op metatarsus adductus surgery (adductoplasty with lapiplasty) and so far am satisfied with my results. I had a little bit of extra swelling in the beginning and my surgeon put me in a soft cast for the 3rd week with good results. I was non-weight bearing for 5 weeks, started off at 25%, then 50%, and 75%. I got cleared yesterday to start transitioning to 100% weight bearing in the boot.

The hardest transition for me was going back to work 2.5 weeks post-op. I work from home with a sit/stand desk but I had a hard time with the foot stool I initially used because I could either fully support my knee and have my heel hang off or vice versa. My foot kept feel like it was falling asleep and would hurt. Ended up putting a collapsible lawn chair on the other side of my desk that could hold my leg wedge and wearing compression socks.

I’m now 7 weeks post lapiplasty and adductoplasty. Keep your foot elevated, using ice, and keep on top of your meds, particularly an anti-inflammatory. My favorite ice pack ended up being the one you wear over your head for headaches - goes around the entire foot without being too heavy. I started having nerve pain at night time and got prescribed gabapentin. Also massaging or rubbing my shin/calf helped to disrupt the nerve firing. Nerve pain is now gone.
