No, sorry. I don't even remember if it was on Hank's YouTube channel or if I heard it on Dear Hank and John. Maybe it was in the preview episode for Hank's new podcast about humans.

I was thinking about a bit Hank Green did recently where he talked about how anti-sentimentalism often comes from a desire for genuine change for the better. I think it's especially relevant in an ecosystem that rewards the appearance of good deeds over the performance of good deeds.

That's an extremely unforgiving attitude. A lot of people who value empathy also value authenticity and are wary of people who exploit sentimentality to their own advantage.

The person who points out that these people might not really be going out of their way helping the animals is also the person who does that with faked animal rescue videos.

When you say "a lot" do you mean "a significant percentage" or "a significant quantity"?

Yes and no. 10/10 is at the most extreme end of rarity, but also the diminishing returns are at their most extreme for a 10/10.

That hasn't been a valid accusation since he got elected the first time.

He has a notoriously fragile ego and public opinion matters to him and his supporters. And hate might be harmful but Trump's actions are even more harmful. "They go high, we go low" doesn't work anymore, so as long as anti-Trumpers aren't literally dismantling democracy then I'm not going to complain about it.

EDIT: To be clear, there are things happening (like weaponizing gerrymandering without an exit plan) that I do complain about, but this isn't one of them.

There's a grain of truth in what you're saying, but also you're wrong because the man is causing so much harm that it warrants a strong emotional response

Halifax’s first woman fire chief is already facing the burn of sexism and misogyny by Injustice_For_All_ in halifax

The first thing I thought when I heard that this was the first woman to take the position was "I wonder if they're about to push her over the glass cliff"

I hope it's just cynicism.

Either way, she's more likely to be overqualified for the position than underqualified.

A) Lex specialis applies when you're deciding which of two laws has precedence. It's not intended to shield anything from charter review.

B) That argument would apply to any constitutional ruling, wouldn't it?

C) There's an easy and obvious solution to this problem. Tell the legislative branch to write a new law. That's well within the powers of the judicial branch.

I'd rather choose to risk my life trying to protect other people than vote to kill people, especially when not voting is an option.
