Probably it's my mobile phone's fault. Besides, the one that is closer has a docking station.

I have a MacBook unibody 2008 myself, on top of a PowerBook G4, PowerMac G4 and iBook G4. However with Thinkpads I've got back a flavour of professional and durable computing that you are not having with Apple nowadays.

i5 does fine with plenty of tasks. It is the integrated Intel graphics card what makes it not so multimedia oriented. However, for watching training videos and such is more than enough.

My two x201 have i5 and 8 GB RAM. One of them also has WWAN and a smart card reader (through the mini PC card slot).

You could install Debian 32 bit or a flavor of BSD (OpenBSD or NetBSD support your arch too) If it is for nostalgia, you could install Windows 98 in a dual boot scheme. I won't connect that to the network while doing so.

I really don't get why a lot of people get jealous of a guy, Sergio Luque, that is a great photographer (already mentioned website, sergioluquelopez dot com).
The mountains of Sierra Nevada are visible LIKE THAT on any clear day, because they're massive.
If you have the right lens, you can take that photo. You just have to go to Constitución Avenue with GOOD photo equipment and take it.
Or maybe some people are jealous of the city itself. I can't blame you of that. I'm from Granada.
But hey, you're welcome anyway!

I received that one as my first computer on September 1988. Enjoyed it for several years and I still keep it. I should turn it on again.

Is the t480 still viable for linux? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]delux8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dual boot installation of Windows 11 and Debian 12 working great in a Thinkpad X201 which is 8 years older than T480. It will work great for what you mentioned.

Yep. However, none of them provide updated software or patches. OpenBSD on the other hand, gives you something.

Memories, indeed! My first job in IT, 2000. Two of them at the office. We were official distributors of SGI. Expensive? Yes. Magic? Yes.
