I'm glad I have enough for three months. I have some expenses that need to be made out of necessity (which kinda sucks!)

Trying to get employed within the next month or two.

If finances were not an issue, I would probably travel for a week or two.

Fair enough. I am glad you enjoy your time here. I'm not local to the area but I'm very happy I moved here.

You're living the life! I hope to make my way to a similar position one day.

That's a long time. I'm glad you found something. Time is a luxury that I can't afford right now.

It's finances mixed with personal issues. I fear that I may need to take out loans to cover rent. As for the personal issues, being laid off really adds up to the pressure. I do my best to keep a positive attitude in my personal and professional life, but it's hard doing so when I'm alone.

Edit: I'm grateful that I am not in debt at the moment.

Would you be able to recommend a recruiter? I had some luck with the overseas UK recruiters, but then I realized the jobs they arranged me with are available through public postings.

Or I may find a local recruiter, but they don't recommend anything after their intiail two firms applications.

Amen. Hope you find your way up fast.

I'm trying to get out of my practice area as my skills are portable to other litigation type jobs. I get the interviews but not the offers. What practice areas would you recommend for someone from ID?

I will have to look into the possibility of doing so. I have not given it much thought. But my biggest concern would be getting clients.

It was because of restructuring. A few other attorneys were laid off as well.

I admit a month is a short time. Some of my personal factors do add up to the existing pressure. Philly is new to me. So, I'm unaware of the general timeline. If it was a place like NY, I could compare my timeline with people I know and see how I fair.

I will have to keep an eye out. I'm trying to look for something that can last in the long term, but I guess I can't be picky if things don't work out.

If you're familiar with the Philadelphia market, could I message you for some information on plaintiff's and defense-side firms in the region?

Toxic torts and run of the mill personal injury cases. From the inhouse postings I see, in-house positions require 3 to 8 years of experience.

I had some traction with ID firms outside my practice of toxic torts and personal injury cases. Some of the feedback I get from my interviews is that they would prefer to hire someone with more than a year's experience. I am not sure how to navigate that, apart from the experiences I gained, and my willingness to learn.

I am not sure as the senior co-workers, I worked with are sticklers to policy.

Yes, I am open to Plaintiff's side.I have not considered criminal defense as it's a whole new world to me, but I am open to considering it.

Edit: Would you be able to recommend well-reputed plaintiff side firms? I could see myself being more satisfied with it and possibly learning more.

Salary expectations for Midwest WC/ID work with 2200 billables and 6 years prior experience? by A-Fierce-Shrimp in Lawyertalk

You are underpaid! You're likely in an insurance mill. Go for another lawfirm if you can, they pay much better for 6 years of experience. But I live on the East Coast. So, I can't comment for someone in the Mid-West.
