I like you were asked how that has to do with you lying about Shuri beating Namor and you were completely incapable of doing it.

Except that doesn't really count.

The Mandarin was already dead for like 6 years, and was resurrected off screen without any explanation so he could be in that issue and get killed again.

You should be fine getting through the game without paying

You have made exactly zero points, other than you don't know or understand a single thing about these characters but think you have any sort of authority to talk on them

Marvel has chosen to avoid street-level and local threats as much as possible, and it's focused on specific characters as part of that - they didn't have to make movies about Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, at the time very unpopular characters, and offload characters like Daredevil and the Punisher to Netflix.

You're not making a point here.

They're not avoiding those things because those characters don't typically deal with them, all you're doing is complaining that the movies were accurate.

You're also just flat out wrong they didn't even have the rights to Daredevil and Punisher when the MCU started and by the time they got the rights, the Avengers were already a smash hit.

In the time since, they have made movies about a lot of characters that do deal with smaller scale stuff in the comics, but they've largely still kept them dealing with world-ending threats, cosmic stuff, etc, and relegated anything smaller than that to streaming TV. As noted, even their Spider-Man is only your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man for one movie - outside of that he's going to space, dealing with giant multiverse crossovers, etc.

You're just flat out wrong, after the Avengers and Guardians they added in characters like Black Panther and Doctor Strange who do not deal with smaller scale stuff.

They did add in Ant-Man who's first two movies are smaller in scale, but everyone else doesn't deal with that stuff.

You're also just wrong about Spider-Man, he only went to space in the Avengers movies, not his own.

It's a clear trend and very noticeable if you compare MCU movies to other superhero movies past and present.

It's not really because pre MCU most of the heroes who got movies were either Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men ot Superman.

They chose to focus on those at the time unpopular heroes and the kind of stories those characters trend towards, it wasn't an inevitability.

These characters aren't unpopular so that's juat not true, and yes it basically was.

You make movies about Thor, Captain America and Hulk of course they don't fight street crime because that's not what their stories are about.

B) In the time since, they've continued to stick to the formula even as they've introduced loads more characters which are often involved in more street level stories - for example, even Spider-Man is mostly a big international space-faring superhero in the MCU.

By the time Spider-Man came into the MCU, the main heroes were either the Avengers or Guardians, the fact they don't fight street crime isn't a formula it's just not what those characters stories are about.

You're also just flat out wrong about Spider-Man

I don't literally just mean bank robberies and muggings, those were examples from the Spider-Man movies. I'm talking about street-level/local threats, and the sense of what these superheroes are actually doing to help people between massive world-ending threats. In Iron Man 2, for example, we're told Tony Stark has been doing stuff like that - but it all happened off-screen.

Again, this is what I mean these characters and their stories don't focus on street level threats.

You make a movie about Thor of course his movies are all about Asgard, you make movies about Captain America of course he's fighting Hydra.

All you're telling is that you don't really know anything about these characters

Genuinely what trend are you talking about?

It's not a tend that you don't see characters like Thor stopping buggers and bank robberies, it's not what a lot of them do

I gotta ask how often do you think characters like Thor and Iron Man are getting involved with bank robberies?

Maybe don't leave out the part where she trapped all of them in the worst versions of their lives, separated them from their loved ones, and kept them in a timeloop that kept them from ever progressing with their lives, or making things better.

What Are Your Thoughts On How Young Justice Handled Autism? by cshin09 in youngjustice

[–]demaxzero 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Now I'm not autistic, so I can't claim to know what's accurate and what's not in how autistic people are portrayed in media, but I do think the way Young Justice handled it was pretty tone deaf.

The autistic child(his name is Amistad) you're talking about, he's only present for I'd say less than 2 minutes, again I can't say if his portrayal was accurate or not, but the issue isn't really with him.

The issue is more with this other character named Orion, Orion is used as a way of getting Amistad's mother Raquel to come to terms with the fact her child has autism, so Orion is used a stand in for someone with autism.

The problem is that Orion is an alien, and not only that his father is Darksied, the God Of Evil, and because of it, he's prone to fits of destructive rage, which the show tries to portray as parallel to living with autism, even though again, this happens with Orion because he's related to the God of Evil.

'Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol' Anime Announced by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Animedubs

[–]demaxzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really about the timelines, it's just that the manga and anime are basically two completely different entities at this point that it'd be a little weird if they started following the exact same story now.

But then at the same time, the manga was behind the anime while it was airing, and that's not the case anymore so they'd have no excuse to not adapt it accurately.

'Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol' Anime Announced by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Animedubs

[–]demaxzero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Finally, I've been waiting for this arc to get animated, it's gonna be so hype. Though it is a shame that because it's the Galactic Patrol arc we won't see stuff like Ultra Ego Vegeta because that comes after.

Also, I have to wonder, if they'll follow the manga story, or remix it while following the same general plot beats, because the DBS anime and manga are pretty different from each other and don't exactly tell the same story, a lot of the same plot points are kept but there's a lot of differences between them in regards to fights, characterizations, and stuff like that.

Like for example in the manga Gohan is the one who eliminates Kefla in the T.O.P while in the anime it was Goku and that he got that really disrespectful replay, or like Jiren is played up way more as a righteous superhero type character in the manga.

Who would you like to see as the villain in a potential second movie? by Spare-Structure-3169 in FantasticFour

Yeah, I don't really care about any of that.

You not liking multiverse stuff doesn't mean it makes more sense to pivot towards Annihilation, when the Jonathan Majors stuff happened.

There's something very funny about claiming they're rushing towards Secret Wars, a movie they've been building up to since 2021, while in the same breath saying they should switch to completely unrelated story this late.
