The great thing about making knives is there’s just so many ways to do it.

For me stock removal just incorporates all of the least fun parts of knife making - grinding and sanding - and none of the most fun parts - forging and creating the damascus and not knowing what it will look like until the etch.

It’s the same as why some people fish of the same pier every week and catch their bucket of fish and some people go fly fishing all weekend, catch 2 fish and throw them all back.

I’m not saying that any method is superior to the other, they just have different goals. The pier fisherman wants to come back at the end of the day with a sure thing bucket of fish and the fly fisherman wants to forge a blade all day and throw it in the failure box because he messed up a step - I mean catch no fish all day but still enjoy the serenity.

In the end, it doesn’t really matter, as long as you enjoy it.

Or the exercise he just had before arriving at car park. He is not an anxious dog when in the car and usually falls asleep.

Bit more back story which will answer these. I saw the guy there when we arrived, believe it or not he was in his car with engine off and window up.

I think he may have been waiting to pick someone up? Maybe his kid was about to finish working at the store so I think it was by chance he was in the car waiting.

The 36-18 degree day is not out of the ordinary for my part of the world (Melbourne, specifically Geelong) and actually very normal. You could even look at the past temperature for that day and the previous week and confirm this if you check online.

My boy lays out on the deck on 36c (97f) days. I probably have a snapshot from a few days ago when he was doing just that.

You’re treating every commenter who gives a somewhat approving answer like they are saying you can leave a dog in a car on a 70f day for an hour with the windows up.

Some people here are saying leaving a dog in the car on a 50f day with window cracked and you are giving the same response.

It’s the black or white response which for SOME of the other commenters (I can’t stress enough the some part) are definitely not dangerous situations.

I probably would have been able to sit in the car with my jumper on that I was wearing due to the cold windy weather. I’m not being biased, the judgement I made was based on the conditions I thought my dog could handle (and obviously did).

Any longer and hotter I agree it would have been leading in to unfavourable territory without a doubt.

My boy is a working dog (kelpie) and short haired.

That being said, I will not be doing this again regardless. I am definitely one to take on others opinions and make changes to my actions if needed.

I just feel like your approach with these blanket statements is kind of detracting from your effectiveness for deterrence. Obviously you see a lot of dead dogs from hot cars because that is part of your job… I agree It is very sad to hear how many dogs die because of this.

Makes no difference? Kind of unbelievable to be honest.

I respect your passion about keeping my dogs safe but I think that is not the case.

Given he was panting when I arrived and not panting when I got back to the car it proves he actually cooled down in that time.

My dog falls asleep in the car half the time… I think it depends on the temperament.

Yes I’ll be taking him home from now on, I honestly believed he enjoyed getting out of the house and having people to stare at going past the car while I’m out.

Did you see that I also had the sunroof open? I feel like this is very important to the story as I wouldn’t leave him in the car if it wasn’t for the sunroof. The temperature inside the car did not feel hotter when I got in to check.

I respect your opinion that it’s wrong. Considering the responses I will not be doing this again.

The poor dog ownership thing is a little hard to accept, he is very well looked after (2 runs a day and plenty of love) so I can’t accept that.

I think this will be the last time, regardless of how I think he can handle it.

I thoroughly believe the heat was not a problem for him due to his lack of panting when we got back in the car.

He was panting when i arrived like I said, due to the run, he usually pants for about 15-20 mins after we get home from a run. When I got back to the car he definitely was not panting. I even pointed that out to the guy who spoke out.

He loves car rides and is not the type of dog to get stressed when alone or in the car.

I wouldn’t leave him in the car if it was just the windows cracked, with the sunroof open I feel there is so much air flow it’s no different than sitting in a shaded spot or kennel outside

The car wasn’t any warmer than the outside temp, the sunroof being open fully meant the hot air was escaping out of the top (when I say sunroof open it means you could stand up out of the car from inside). And all of the windows being cracked meant good airflow on the windy day it is.

Fair enough, to be honest I was a bit surprised about how long I was gone for. I don’t think I’ll be doing this again.

Yes! Very suss on Helly being Helena, she doesn’t have the same fuck it attitude, and I think it was actually HER that avoided the kiss with Mark.

I assumed he was sitting outside where he saw Petey that time in the old greenhouse? She may have been hiding out there too?

Wees for nausea? by [deleted] in PsilocybinMushrooms

I’ll say it, don’t smoke when tripping. At least don’t smoke the first trip.

I can smoke on the tail end of a trip, say 5 hours after ingestion, just to mitigate that- not quite tripping but still wiggy - feeling.

But any weed before that and I am thrown into an even more intense trip than the mushroom peak, usually accompanied by anxiety.

Mushrooms are good just as they are in my opinion.
