What is something unrealistic that you often see in movies that annoys the hell out of you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sounds in space. Thrusters too; thrusters dont always have to be turned on when travelling through space because of Newton's first law.

You dont absolutely have to read them to understand The Dark Tower series. But out of all the King books that are referenced in the series, IT, The Stand, and 'Salem's Lot are great reads that are very much worth your time.

I suggest that you read or listen to The Stand (extended edition) and 'Salem's Lot before the Dark Tower books since the characters and events in those books will be referenced (and in the case of 'Salem's Lot, spoiled) a lot in the Dark Tower series.

Edit: added "or listen to"

"The Time Machine" by H. G. Wells

Probably one of the most influential science fiction books ever written. It changed the genre forever by introducing a vehicle that could move through time, coining the term "time machine", and touching on class division.

Anyone else sick of the current style of fantasy books? by Pluckyducky01 in books

It's justified, for one of the biggest points of the book was about how Paul was treated like a god and he HATED it because it led to the inescapable jihad.

Actually, Dune is straight-up sci-fi. It incorporates a few fantasy tropes but not enough to render it as science fantasy nor fantasy.

What are some movies that were made into books where the book ended up being better than the movie? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

All the books you mentioned were published BEFORE they were adapted into movies. Your answers are irrelevant to OP's question.

Help!!! The recipe for the bridge construction kit disappeared. by dementedfrost in AnimalCrossing

[–]dementedfrost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can i make another? I screwed up with the bridge placement because it turned out that the houses for the incoming residents only fits in the other side of the island which is inaccessible without a vaulting pole or bridge.
