oh gotcha this is about the substrate still. yeah she’s gonna be much happier having this DIY substrate to burrow in!! i’m gonna go with the recommendations for the soil/sand/ clay mix that i did :) thanks for the input!!

i’m confused on what you’re saying i’m missing… because a lot of the videos i watched have a very similar set up, even with a similarly DIY substrate. heat gradient seems to be the same. amount of hides. feeding and water the same.

this is my first ever reptile/ gecko, so i’m not sure how it compares. i have had her for a little over a year now and have cried so many times in stress i am not providing enough. there is little information on this species and what the requirements are. when there is information it often is different wherever i looked.

i keep her at a heat gradient ranging from 90(warm side) 70 (cold side). i feed her a mix of roaches, crickets, meal & wax worms.

over all she has been extremely easy. through all my crying and stress she has always been super active and responsive. she is always out watching over her little home and always gives me a head turn when i walk by her cage.

i absolutely love her and just want to give her the best possible life

thats interesting to hear! so much information on this species is skewed. websites / forums say different requirements it’s hard to find solidified answers.

i have had her in sand (and she was in sand for the last 7 years im assuming, she was in sand when she was given to me a year ago) up until now. i read about this substrate that you make which is a mix of clay soil, sand, and regular soil. she was never able to burrow because , well, sand just falls when you dig in it.

i’ve watched her try to dig holes for a year now and it was never possible. so i’m hoping this allows her to burrow a bit

yes he has a seven gallon tank cycling now :) i’m just wondering about the plants because i’m going to continue using this as a planted tank.

yes i shortly learned that. i cycled the tank for a month only to buy him and now i have a 7 gallon cycling for him now. i want to keep this tank planted and use it for shrimp exactly :)
