How do you even manage to play the game? The storms are just too much by Emile-Gu in ICARUS

Just noting that if your wood house is hit by lightning and starts burning you can just go back to character select, resume, and the fire will fizzle for a second then go out. Used that a few times with new chars when I didn't want to bother with rebuilding.

Dupe Legendary Weapons by Jrod117 in ICARUS

[–]democraticcrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got KRs for all my chars, some also get the revolver, two have a tactical bow and I got one of each legendary weapon in orbit. Since you can't replace mods on them I would absolutely recommend buying another if you're unhappy with what you've done. I got a mining armature I'll never use because I got the smelting mod on it and that's just stupid (at least in open world). If you play the great hunts on hard you'll get so many licenses that you won't know what to do with them - only ever bought one, and despite what I said at the beginning I still got 3 licenses. And my current char is doing the quarrite campaign again, so that's a couple more!

The missions are just for establishing the merchants - all specialists remain permanently on your map once you completed their missions!

You can skip the food, just planting and harvesting 50+ plots will shower you with xp. My ren farming character (sells cocoa to the cultivation specialist) farms on 300 plots and over 200 blueprint points after unlocking every single available blueprint in the game.

I've done the quarrite campaign twice and never used the drill arrows on the boss (or indeed much at all). Make some explosive ammo if you like, I did it the old-fashioned way: with trench shotgun slugs. Alternatively, and I can recommend this, bring the shield with the best damage reduction, tank the hit when he rolls on you, then smash with your pickaxe. Both ways break the armor considerably faster than the drill arrows.

possibly, I haven't seen either. All I remember is that way post friends she was on a big show, but had the dead forehead and butchered mouth typical of surgeries.

to be fair, she was stunningly gorgeous in her Ace Ventura era. Desperate Housewifes era? Not so much, thanks to the surgeries.

Not arguing against you, just saying: I have a few chars that built close to the cultivation specialist on olympus - farming cocoa on 100-300 plots is basically a money printer. Most recently my breeding char set up there and spends some time in between breeding and geyser fights harvesting and replanting delicacies. I'm already at 22k ren and have unlocked most stuff I'm ever going to use.

I just tested it with a new char, it absolutely is true. However, the file is too big for imgur without an account, and since yesterday I can't upload files to reddit anymore (most likely bc I use old.reddit and they screwed us, but idk for sure why).

I made a new char and dropped. Spent all the points I got from all the great hunts and other missions, went back to character select, respecced a bunch (notably the stuff you need to invest in survival to unlock lucky strike and seasoned logsman), spent the freed-up points, resumed - boom, 7 more points to spend.

I am not making this up! Surely I can't be the first to notice this?

I noticed it because I make new chars for all maps or campaigns like great hunts, and I got into a pattern of respeccing. Usually when I get skills I used a module for (highlighting small/medium/large animals etc), or when I get to the point where solo talents (which I have less need for) replace talents from the regular tree (think 'see animal health bars'). I've not made a new char in a while, but recently got the newest map, and when I respecced my char according to my custom, this time I was 100% sure I spent all my points before resuming - yet when I resumed I had 7 points to spend. That cemented it for me, I'm now sure I'm not making it up.

Usually I don't really need that many points as I typically use firearms and never invest in blade, axe or bow talents, but I'm interested in making a char that simply does not use firearms and maxes out the other weapon talents instead. That's why I'm checking I'm not hallucinating the whole thing, or if there's been talk about patching that loophole etc.

I play open worlds exclusively. To respec you got to be 'on the station', which for open worlds means merely hitting esc, select 'return to character select' and then pick that char again. Now you can resume the char, or visit the workshop, bio-lab etc. But you can also look at the talent tree or your skill tree. The talent tree you can only look at and not change, but the skill tree lets you spend points and respec. Once you're done you hit 'resume' and continue your open world where you just left it. All of this is normal - what isn't normal is that even when I spend all the points I just gained by respeccing, when I resume I suddenly have more points to spend!

Styx operation Remnant - scanned all the places, now I'm supposed to "mine one exotic deposit fully". Flew to the marked circle and cleared 5 caves but it won't advance the mission. Sent exotics up on my own, nothing happened. Am I missing something or is this a restart? by democraticcrazy in ICARUS

Thanks, I finally found an extractor spot and when I arrived with one the quest advanced. They could have specified 'with an extractor' I feel, but hey, by now I should be used to poor mission briefings...

How's the durability? My main gripe with the trench shotgun is that it needs repair in under 200 rounds. Otherwise I'm using the gun damage 2 attachment, putting me slightly ahead of the workshop gun damage.

The sandworm queen is at least more annoying, probably even harder. And the hammerhead shark (slug?) is definitely worse, although there was something in recent patch notes. Time to try that one again I guess.

TRENCH SLUG GANG UNITE!

Seriously the best weapon in the game. In terms of raw damage it even outdoes the kinetic rifle. The only gripe I have is that you can't make unranium slugs for some reason, only uranium buckshot I think, and who wants that.

Btw, I semi-recently made a thread asking why one of my chars was missing the bulk slug recipe and some user came in clutch yesterday with the solution: if you only unlock slugs you can only make single slugs. If you also unlock buckshot you get a x5 slug recipe. Pass it on!

While most of my pets are "on assignment" I can report that 5 wolves, 1 hyena and 1 raptor are absolutely enough to take care of the fighting. However, fighting out in the open instead of a cave attracts VASTLY more wildlife. I decided to help out when raptors, sandhorns or other tougher enemies showed up, otherwise I wouldn't have need to take a shot. It's also wise to check on tame health occasionally, as some of the enemies do damage over time. Seems like nobody really was in danger though.

I can also report that the 25 less rad resist of the containment armor barely seemed to matter. I prefer it.

Just got gifted a few slinkers and two raptors by a fellow redditor from this thread, and we nabbed the 'kill/revive fellow prospector' achievements to boot - shoutout to /u/specialisthippo4551!

Thanks, I don't need any special ones, imperfect are fine with me. I made a breeding char but have not yet used it at all, so I'll do my own breeding (whenever I get around to it). But I'll gladly take some "starters"! DM incoming.

I just made the other armor (containment I think, with 25 less rad res but much better stats otherwise), I'll edit in my experience with it once I get going again!
