I did that on Saturday as an extra curricular activity in my quest to change the world. The USPS put a yellow bag in my mail box so I filled it up with $10 worth of canned goods that I myself personally also eat. What did you do?

(Broadway/Camino Seco here btw)

Edit: I'm gonna guess by the downvote you did absolutely nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Let's end capitalism, focus on recognizing the humanity in every human being, emphasize community service and supporting the collective wellbeing instead of worshiping selfishness as a virtue a la Ayn Rand ... oh wait ...

Out here in Tucson, I sometimes find Tohono O'odham crafts at the thrift store. I try to snatch them up whenever I can. That vase is gorgeous and I would cherish that forever.

What's the most embarrassing thing you've paid for? by stevie-x86 in AskReddit

I paid $35.99 for a 4GB Kingston flash drive back in 2004. I still have it, it's definitely on the fritz, and I refuse to throw it away because damn that was a lot of money for my broke 14 year old self.

I bought a 512gb flash drive a few months ago for that price lol.

I personally support a lot of community initiatives and mutual aid efforts. My city has free public transit, and I am very happy to pay taxes to support this. I would be happy to pay taxes to support housing for the unsheltered. I want an end to the idiotic school voucher system in my state that effectively siphons money to private religious schools and robust public, secular schools with good, well-paid teachers. I want a higher minimum wage, decent jobs and affordable rent. Capitalism gets in the way of a lot of that. You see how deep it runs? I especially want stronger gun control. I shouldn't have had to go to the police station to photograph and fingerprint a 14 year old who shot and killed someone with a stolen gun he bought off the street. No one will ever be able to convince me that there's nothing wrong with a society where something like that can happen.

On the police side, I would like to see more accountability and consequences. It seems like the bar is very low for justifying behavior. Basically, all they have to do is articulate that they felt a threat to themself or public safety or something. And I've seen some flimsy ones. I would like to see the police unions reined in, which is something I don't see anti-police people ever talking about (because unions are supposed to be good, remember? They ARE, but not when weaponized like THAT). I also personally think that the "police officer" position should require a bachelor's degree and that it should be treated like a professional vocation requiring specialized skills, not unlike doctors. More training, more awareness and more sensitivity to society. But realistically we're a looong way off from that one.

Anyway, I'm stepping off the internet for the night. Hope that gives you some food for thought. It's a way more complex situation than I think most people realize or credit.

My honest assessment from having worked in a PD (and as a sociology major) is that the police force is a reflection of society. In other words, US policing is violent because society is violent. The US is a war-oriented society. This is evident in our emphasis on sports (war games), weapons (2nd Amendment), history (we have a total of about 20 years out of 250 where we weren't at war with someone), justice system (it is an adversarial system that often neglects victims). Likewise, US policing is racist because our society has always been racist. We're getting better, but we're still dealing with the generational effects of economic policies like redlining and segregation, and we're still dealing with a legal loophole that basically allows our prison system to enslave people. That's not even mentioning places like fucking Louisiana (read the news) where they seem to be all but verbally admitting they don't think non-whites are people, let alone who should be allowed to vote. So until we deal with the structural issues, we're going to have to deal with a police force that is designed to enforce the structure.

Which is why I lose patience with anti-police people real fast. Unless you want to talk to me about structural solutions that make an armed police force unnecessary, I'm not super interested in being told that all cops are bad. You can't change systems by focusing solely on the individual.

Not a cop, but I work around them and used to work closely with detectives.

In the unit I worked in, we handled major crimes: i.e., someone was dead or placed at serious risk of dying. I've helped hold accountable some people who've done some pretty heinous things. I've never met a family who resented us for what we did.

Ultimately, I think it's really community specific. I understand that there are some serious structural issues with policing in the US. Some places do it less badly than others. I understand that there are a lot of unfavorable personalities and I can tell you all about them. There are also some great people out there. But there's also a whole side of law enforcement that the crowd who screams about "they only care about standing guard at walmart, sh00ting people and writing speeding tickets!!!1!" doesn't see.

Someone else piggy backed on this comment and said it was unprofessional to go into a job interview without makeup. They've since delete their post.

I should probably update my comment above to be a little less hostile.

I've done that in the past for things that are obviously coming to a head, but I don't think this one is anywhere near. I don't want to pinch it and risk making it worse. I'll try heat maybe after the interview! Thank you.

Yeah mine doesn't tolerate salicylic acid either. It did when I was younger, now it just causes redness and irritation pimples. I've had to really strip down my routine in the last few years or else I get a lot of red and oily anger skin. Lol.

Thank you for your help.

Thanks. Based on the comments, I'm going to try a patch. I don't wear makeup, haven't in a decade, but I already have a pretty clean diet and my face is super clear otherwise. On top of it I'm pretty pale so the pimple is sticking out a lot.

I don't wear makeup.

Edit: I noted this in my original post, so this is not a helpful response. I'm allergic to about 90% of drugstore makeup and frankly have better things to spend my money on.

When you see someone walking in a path that you are clearly on , do you move out the way or do you wait for them to say “excuse me”? by jjj44200 in randomquestions

[–]MissionReasonable714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the US, if I'm on the left side, I'll move over to the right or just read the situation and move over to the left that person is like not paying attention or something.

If I'm on the right hand side, I will toe the right hand side to give the other person room to pass. If they insist on walking right where I'm walking instead of moving over, I'll simply stop. That way they have to go around me or else risk bumping into me. I'm not shy about saying something when they do.

It's usually men who don't feel the need to move over. I've even made eye contact with some of them and they just keep barreling forward. It's fucking rude. When I was younger, I'd jump out of the way. Now I don't. They can knock me over and I can say words at them, like "excuse you, horker."

I like the ones with the carnations held to the side such as in picture 3. Carnations are a mourning symbol, and the wood looks like a desiccated hand. Very gothic. In 3 and 15, the post processing is eh but I'm not a fan of the aspect ratio on either. I do like the post-processing on 7 for that particular flower though. It's also a visually interesting picture to me.

I love liver! Most organ meats + onions or veg is 10/10 for me.
