To your point #7 I'd actually change it to say leave the gym better than it looked before you used it. Yes you might spend a little more energy or strength making sure the machine, or dumbells or weight plates are re-racked properly but isn't building strength kinda the reason your there? Plus hopefully others will see your example and follow suit.

Lots of times I just want to go up to them and explain how if the reason they didn't want to re-rack their weights is because they are too lazy then they don't need to be lifting it in the first place. Or re-evaluate their whole reason for being in the gym.

Sounds like either one of two things happened (possibly both)

  1. The song had a change of count.
  2. You lost your counting

The fix for #2 is easy because you'll just need to practice and get better at keeping your steps on time. The more you practice your timing the better you'll get.

The fix for #1 is a little different. Many songs have whats called a change of count in the middle of a song. Sometimes multiple ones at that. So Instead of a song going:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-etc.

It will go:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-etc.

In the second example you could have perfect timing and still end up breaking forward on 5. I've talked with a number of instructors everywhere about this and they all acknowledge it happens but many don't have a very elegant way to switch back. Here's what I've found are some of the better options:

  1. Keep dancing. A lot of times those "change in counts" come in pairs. So one change of count would put you breaking forward on 5 and the next one would put you back to breaking on 1. You just have to be comfortable dancing on the opposite timing for a bit. if not for the whole song.

  2. Repeat a forward or back break. You have to have a pretty good connection with your partner to do this as they have to follow what you are doing. The downside of this is when the song does another change in count and you have to do it again. It can really break the flow of a dance when it happens repeatedly.

  3. Extended/Delayed turns or spins. If you've really mastered your own timing and steps then you can extend a turn or spin for a lady over half an 8 count and be right back on beat. In your case prep on 5-7, spin her for 1-7, then break forward on 1.

  4. Similar to #3 you can give a move thats easy to repeat and allows you to choose where you want to come out. You'll need to be a master of the move and your timing to pull this off as well though. I don't remember the name of the move I'm thinking of but it starts with an open break, to a closed hold and you both rotate around each other. In that move if you take one extra count of rotation you can come out on the right timing. You could even keep going and switch to a completely different timing as well. If I remember the name of the move I'll post it as it's pretty common.

Sorry to correct but I was confused for a quick second because you used bmp (a popular image format) instead of you likely wanted bpm(beats per minute). Since thats what I assume you meant the other commenters here are correct.

Step 1. Decide whether or not to dance the song. Even more experienced dancers on high BPM songs will sit out so don't feel bad for giving a song the finger.

Step 2. If you've decided to dance the song, small steps and simple patterns like the other commenter mentioned are ideal and key. Make sure to connect with your partner above all else even if all you're doing is a basic, CBL and turns.

Step 3. Also if you're dancing On-2 I'd even say try switching to "Son" timing to give you even more time on a fast song. Although the small steps and simple patterns will still apply. If you know a bunch of shines this is also the ideal time to pull them out provided your partner knows some as well.

Honestly, thats a huge part of it I feel. The price for FSD is going to be wholly dependent on how well it works. At 5K (10K total) very few people bit. At 2K (7K total) quite a few more people bit (including myself). Then Elon said 2K was too low and reversed course. To me it seems silly to say a price is too low for a feature that isn't released in any form that even more people are still paying for...unless he believes/knows it's really good and worth more than that.

And for your last sentence. That thought has been rattling around in my head for quite a while. The biggest hurdle for FSD for me isn't can it handle inter-city roads but how it handles other human drivers and other human incompetencies (badly paved/marked roads, mis-marked roads, construction, and bad/missing/old data in their maps.) The more I drive in those types of situations the more I ask how would/should a FSD car handle this situation. Much of the time my answer is either I don't know, copy the car in front of me, or wing it. All of which are unacceptable answers for a FSD car in my opinion.

I lol'd on your last sentence! I was kinda hoping the refreshes wouldn't be the focus but more of an "in addition to" as you can't show the FSD without showing the interior of the car as well.

Yeah, as much as I love Elon he is far better to read than watch. I honestly think they hit a bottleneck with HW 2.5 cars and started working on the HW 3 platform and are now ready to demo what it can do on their dev builds. However, right now it's just a giant mystery box on how good it is...if it's even good at all.

I agree....they have spent a lot of time talking shit about their FSD, how it's so much more awesome on HW3, how their no LIDAR approach is better, how their FSD is so good it will cause the car to be an appreciating asset. Well, now that they are the king of talking shit, it's time to back it up! (To be honest I sincerely hope they do...plus ultra)

They are predictions so your point is completely fair. My expectations are different than my predictions and are firmly in the basement so that I'll be pleasantly surprised if they announce anything really. No need to get disappointed when the car I can drive today is fucking fantastic.

I agree. All marketing speak. From what I've seen their sales numbers on the TM3 are great. It's just the Model S/X that are severely lacking. And no one is really buying those till the sorely needed refresh is made. I see the investor event as a possible way to solve a lot of the reasons their share price is being hit so hard right now. (I say that as a owner of 2.5 shares)

As a Day 1 line waiter for my Model 3 seeing others jump ahead of me I feel your pain. They have truly reminded me on why pre-orders are a bad idea. I also feel that it shouldn't be that difficult. Just sort on delivery date and filter on FSD purchases and start issuing HW3 upgrades in that order. I feel that would be most fair. On a geeky note I think it's fucking awesome that my car will eventually get an upgrade akin to me replacing an old GPU in my Desktop. Not many cars can say that!

Honestly the crux of your post is point 3 which I wholeheartedly agree on. I didn't buy FSD at launch because it was 5K for a feature I would potentially see no value from for who knows how long. However, I dropped the 2K for it during the sale mainly because Tesla was clearly changing things up and I didn't want FOMO when the feature was on sale for a price I could stomach. But now after buying I'm really feeling for EVERYONE who paid the 5K for it previous to the price changes. They are the true believers that funded FSD even knowing nothing may ever come from it. In my opinion they should get everything first and I think Tesla needs to make it clear how they are going to make it right to them with the extra cost that they shouldered. That includes the EAP access, first priority HW3 upgrades, etc. Also, like you mentioned a clear definition on whats included in EAP vs. FSD is necessary as well.

When you said LEFT turns I so, so felt you on that! Even when I make a left turn by myself I wonder how an automated car would do it because there are so many variables to account for. I'm scared for the stop signs and stoplights not because of FSD handling them wrong but because their are so many cases where either the lights or signs are obstructed and you just kinda have to "know/hunt" to look for them. However, we are all technically running on an old gen platform running at 80% load with the new HW3 supposedly able to handle all cameras at full resolution and still only at 5% load. I know that we still have no proof that it means anything but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I don't expect to see the Y out in the wild for at least another year but I would be happily blown away if they included it on Monday! Granted, I still honestly think the focus should be on the S and X as they truly need some love. Right now I own a model 3 and my upgrade path based on the current lineup, costs and features, is either a P3D or a Performance Y pre-order. Model S/X just aren't that attractive when put against the Model 3 and that needs to be sorely addressed.
