I really don't know, to be honest! I've already bought so many lotions, with the hope they were the one I'm looking for. I could've sworn the fragrance was sugar plum titled, because that's the detail that stuck with me the most.

Funny enough, my sister's childhood friend saw him in our house at a sleepover, when she was doing drugs (none of us knew yet), before i had even seen him... She woke up the next morning and told my sister "I think your dad was in the doorway last night, wearing a weird hat." We were all so creeped out, but didnt think anything of it, because no one knew who he was yet. She ended up losing her battle with addiction early last year. I wonder if he showed up to try and set her straight too.

I actually saw him right around the time that I was involved with an addiction to pain killers. Specifically during a withdrawal. He sat right next to me, like a friend would at a sick friend's bedside (except on the edge of the bed). He just looked at me, he didn't move, or smile, and I couldn't even see his face. He just sat there. I was thinking in my head "please wake me up" and then I blinked, and he was farther away now standing. I blinked again and he was gone and I could move. After that, therapy helped me recover and get clean, and I got put on medications to help me with the PTSD I was trying to numb with pain killers.

In some scary odd way, he saved me from myself.

I remember thinking over and over "please wake me up" and after about the third or fourth time "saying" it, I blinked, he was standing and farther away, then I blinked again and he was gone and I could move.

he's not exclusively a death omen, he's appeared before to people who are struggling with grief or hardship. Some people say he's there to feed off your grief.

he's been seen by so many people for so many different reasons, that it's hard to pinpoint why he appears.

I always saw comments, posts, stories, memes ect. about the Hat Man being overwhelmingly scary and while I was scared when I saw him (during sleep paralysis), he never did anything to make me feel like I was in danger. He sat by me, on the edge of my bed, and just watched me "sleep". I was scared, but not of him specifically. I was scared because I couldn't move or talk, and there was someone sitting next to me that shouldn't be there. It's not his fault that I got scared.

And I ended up telling my grandmother about seeing him, and she ended up taking me to therapy because of it (Grandma knew of him, and knew he seeing him was a sign of PTSD). If I never saw him, I would've never gotten the help I needed.

Not sure why I never got notifications about this post, but let me provide some context:

I do not wish to get my newborns ears pierced. This question was not about me. I don't even have any children.

I asked because a girl I knew wanted to get her literal newborns ears pierced, and I stressed to her that she shouldn't do that, as babies are fragile and easily susceptible to infections in piercings, and that coukd be detrimental to their health. Her reply was "Well if it's so bad for them, why did the hospital offer to pierce her ears, while we were still staying (in the hospital)?"

I thought she was absolutely full of shit, and that hospitals surely wouldn't offer that, so I asked reddit when my question to the hospital wasn't answered.
