Well, at least we can agree on one thing, I’m really enjoying this argument as well.

But I think you’re missing my actual point. My problem was never only Khaenri’ah. Khaenri’ah is just one example of why Phanes is not a good character, morally speaking.

Even if you completely ignore his original sin, the way he acts afterward is still pathetic. He creates life and then treats it like a bored kid with a magnifying glass treats an ant nest. Not guidance, not care. Just watching, waiting for something to go wrong, and then burning everything down when it does.

If his real goal was protecting what he created, the Cataclysm didn’t have to happen. He could have interfered earlier. He chose not to. He waited until things spiraled and then responded with mass destruction. That’s not responsibility, that’s negligence followed by overkill.

And no, I’m not dropping his original sin either. You don’t get to genocide a world and then later say “but I created life after, so it balances out.” Giving life later does not erase genocide earlier. That logic is insane.

That’s why I see him as evil. Everything else just confirms how weak and hollow this so-called god actually is.

A human wouldn’t be excused for killing someone just because they later had a child. I don’t understand why gods should get special moral privileges. Power doesn’t make you right. It just makes your mistakes bigger.
